Re: DREDD

Looking forward to this. Script by Alex Garland, and I also read Duncan Jones, who made Moon and who has an artist's eye for film, said he thought it was a good script but he chose to pass on it because he has his own ideas about Dredd. And Urban's keeping the helmet on.

All of these are encouraging signs this could be a solid movie.

Re: DREDD

Dredd got a big response at Comic Con. I'm thrilled for it, I like Urban. He was a bad ass in The Bourne Supremacy.

Re: DREDD

one thing I see as issues with modern interpretations of "CLASSIC" stories is that they become an anachronism despite how well they are executed on film.

these stories DO NOT transcend to modern era in my humble O as the short comings are readily apparent... even if one is blessed with the touch of actually being present when these stories were first conceived and released. it's a bit like they should have had the technology to make these movies back in the 1980's when the stories were much more pertinent.

with current technology in film making, we need NEW stories based in another reality and conceptual continuity. I think "man" is ready for more... just like the bible.

Re: DREDD

I remember having a convo with you about the 90s movie awhile ago. I'm so excited for this to come out as well. Should be a lot of fun, and with today's special effects I think it has the potential to be really good. Either way I'll enjoy the hell out of it though.

Dredd gets an 18 for UK cinemas. For frequent strong bloody violence and gore.

Loving how this is going. Makers chose not to cut to get a 15, so props to them.

Getting great reviews.

Seeing it at the Empire, Leicester Sq next Wednesday. Haven't been to see a film up west for years.

Reading this thread makes me Dredd this movie less.
