All about the songwriting, imo. Some of his best tunes were made famous by other artists.

Fave tune: Spirits in the Night

This.

My vote: Atlantic City.

But I do prefer The Band's (Levon Helm) version.

Great songwriter for sure but to say Bruce is all about the songwriting is selling him short, he's a phenomenal live performer. If there's one band I'd love to go back in time to see it's the E-Street Band in the late 70's.

In regards to Thin Lizzy, the ONLY two songs by them I ever hear played are Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back in Town. I'd probably die of shock if I heard Whiskey in the Jar(my personal favorite).

I'm gonna have to go with Glory Days for Bruce. I like the flow of it, and it seems more relevant the older I get.

I'm a big fan of Atlantic City. I love Bruce for his storytelling. There's really no other popular musician who can tell it like he does.

ETA: just switched to 50 post per page limit & didn't click last page before making this post. It seems you all are on the right page. Carry on.

My favorite Boss song is whichever I'm not hearing.

I'll prob catch hell for this but I can't stand Springsteen, Dylan, Led Zep and Marley. All of them get an insta-station change or the volume turned down.

Glory Days as your favorite Bruce song?? That's like naming Eyes Wide Shut as your favorite Kubrick.

I hate to say this but I'm pretty sick of hearing them myself. Lol.

I've always avoided Marley like the plague for all the cheesy stoner associations. But now when one of his songs comes on, I always think, hmmm, that ain't so bad.

Mainly Heavy Metal and classic rock.

I never cared for Bruce that much. He has a couple of songs I like.

I can't stand Plant's voice. I respect the influence they had/have on rock since their debut but Plant's voice is enough to turn me off.

Dylan is a great song writer/poet but he sucks as a singer. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

Marley was/is the most over hyped "singer" ever. I could go the rest of my life never hearing him again.

Bruce is love-him-or-hate-him it seems. Either his music speaks to you or it doesn't. Personally I think he's one of the best songwriters of all time. His voice is not great but he gets the most out of it. Underrated as a guitar player also.

I will say that Bruce's recent output has been quite a dip in quality over his earlier stuff. Devils and Dust probably his last decent record. But his first 7 through Born in the USA are as great a collection as anyone out there.

Whiskey in the jar gets played quite a bit on the local station here, along with the other 2. They even play cowboy song(i think thats what it's called) every now and again.

I love Tunnel of Love. But the last Bruce album I listen to regularly is The Ghost of Tom Joad. I don't bother with anything more recent. Am I missing out?

The Rising and Devils and Dust are both very good records with some standout tracks, if not quite up to the earliest stuff. Major dropoff in quality after that.

Last time I checked out one of his records it had someone rapping on it. Rapping. On a Springsteen album.
