Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation of this series and that I hate you for it too.

I started reading the 1st book a few days ago and now I'm a few chapters into the 3rd. I can't stop reading them.

if any of you've piqued an interest in [particle] physics because of the (assumed) discovery of the higgs boson, you should read The Infinity Puzzle

I can't say enough good things about Caro's LBJ bios. I am on a 2 week vaca, and I sped through vol. 2 last week and moved directly into vol. 3, Master of the Senate, which won the Pulitzer.

Just read 4-5 pages of IJ where I had no idea what was going on. Gay, ebonics, criminals, laced drugs, the ghetto.

"Wardine says her momma..." ? if so, standard reaction ; jsut take note of the characters names; they'll come back later.

[edit]^ think I'm wrong. laced drugs is a passage later with Poor Tony in the projects and chinatown(?). just remember him, he'll come back. it's kind of an intro chapter for him.

No that section made more sense. This one had Poor Tony (around page 135)

Re: Books: What are you reading tonight?

I have a question about the Dresden Files...

Are they standalone books or do the books progress a main plotline?

Re: Books: What are you reading tonight?

i believe someone said they are standalone but they do seem to refer to other situations that are in the previous books

Dresden series sounds good, i'll be starting that after I finish American Gods (which I'm currently enjoying).

Seems they made a TV series on Dresden, have to check that out as well.

Reading The Name of the Wind. Only my second fantasy series after ASOIAF, and I am liking it quite a bit.

Yessssssssssssssssss. It is amazing. Rothfuss is awesome, he just has a way of bringing characters to life that is rare to find in modern fantasy.
