Don't know if Sonny Landreth has an international reputation, but he is a Louisiana guitarist well worth listening to.

I've been puzzled listening to pre-war blues recording where it seemed that the slide guitarist was sliding and fretting at the same time. This video contains a hint as to how they may have done that.

Sonny Landreth was on the tribute album for Hound Dog Taylor. He did a great cover of Taylor's Rock...........

The Bad Boys from the UK will release Blue Lonesome soon, out Dec 2 in time for the kick up of for Capitialist Christmas. Wonder if it will live up to the hype. I may buy the vinyl version.

On 2nd December 2016, The Rolling Stones will release ‘Blue & Lonesome’, their first studio album in over a decade. ‘Blue & Lonesome’ takes the band back to their roots and the passion for blues music which has always been at the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones.

The album was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins and was recorded over the course of just three days in December last year at British Grove Studios in West London, just a stone’s throw from Richmond and Eel Pie Island where the Stones started out as a young blues band playing pubs and clubs. Their approach to the album was that it should be spontaneous and played live in the studio without overdubs. The band – Mick Jagger (vocals & harp), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar) were joined by their long time touring sidemen Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards) and, for two of the twelve tracks, by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the next studio making his own album.

‘Blue & Lonesome’ sees the Rolling Stones tipping their hats to their early days as a blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf – artists whose songs are featured on this album.

Sounds like a lot of fluff and pure rot, until proven otherwise. Anyone have an inside scoop on this new plastic plasma being jerked off by these UK oldsters?

Leads off with "Just Your Fool," prolly my favorite Walter Jacobs song. It might be OK. Early stones is my favorite Stones. 12 x 5 and RS Now my favorite albums.

They're getting kind of old, though. I'll keep an open mind.

I just received this as a CD product. IMO it lived up to the hype. Very well done. Great solid 'bar blues sound', good raw energy and you feel right at home listening to this album. Wonderful tribute to American Blues by the UK boys. If this is The Rolling Stones last album, it hit the mark and is a masterful last bow.
