Joe Jackson
This guy amazes me. Starts out as a new wave/punk brat, segues into beautiful pop songs, then he becomes a jazz performer, and finally, he creates classical music. Always loved his voice in all iterations. Seems to be mostly forgotten now, but, man, is he great. I always thought that if I could sing, I'd want to sing like Joe Jackson.
I was sure Ronstadt would be one of the first3 or 4 picked. I didn't pick her first because it was too obvious. I realized at #10 there was a chance of an injustice being done, so I went ahead and grabbed her.
Others I was sure would be 1st rounders: Mel Blanc, Freddie Mercury, James Earl Jones, Maria Callas (my 1st snipe), Joe Jackson. There are at least three more whose omission surprises me.
