Fall always amps up my Hate; I hate God, I hate most baseball and football teams, I hate all politicians, I hate journalists, I hate people out to save the world, I hate all the pretentious universities starting their idiotic school year, and I hate the silly leaves falling off the trees. Hate, Hate, Hate! It’s the best thing in the world and makes it fun and worthwhile being here.
Zeno, the irascible one, strikes again. October is the month of my birth, so I am partial to it.
One of my best friends died on my birthday a couple years ago, so it's a bittersweet day. I think about Tim often, how when we played golf, the other guys would have one drink and leave while Tim and I would hang out, Tim having three drinks to my one. We would sit and talk for a long time, watching the sun go down. I miss my friend.
Shaking your fist at something so ephemeral adds spice to life.
The Mets are going to win the World Series, the Italians are going to start a war in Europe, and a statue to Zeno will be dedicated in Trafalgar Square.
It’s Monday. The coffee I’m drinking is rather harsh, the breakfast will be even worse, fog is everywhere on the coast, and billion of tourists are clogging up everything. And Italy has it’s first woman Leader.

Just returned home from my oldest friend's daughter's wedding. We've known each other for 55 years. And we've watched each other's kids grow up to be fine adults. Also got a chance to talk to his brother and sister. Haven't seen them for over thirty years since my friend got married. We all knew each other's families well. My friends might spend a couple hours talking with my parents or my grandfather. Maybe this is unusual for high school kids, but it never seemed strange to us.
And naturally I arrived late to the wedding, thinking it was at 5:00 when it began at 3:00. And the friends there thought I had another seizure since I was late.
I missed two of my friends who have died in the past couple years. Seems strange to have only their wives there. We talked about our spouses who are gone and recalled those days when we were all together. Really, it's not so bad to remember. These memories make us who we are, don't they?
