Hi guys.

I am leaving in 6 days for my first leg of my USA Pour Tour. I am traveling to all 50 states, and drinking beer to raise money for cancer research. So far I've raised $106,000 by drinking a beer in all 351 Massachusetts towns in 2013, and all 169 Connecticut towns in 2014. This year I am hitting a place in all 50 states. Each place is doing an event to help out. I am hoping to raise $200k this year.

My new beer truck is being worked on now. I am looking for ideas as to how to design the side of my car. It is being finished this week. The wrap guy can do literally anything. The hood of my car will have a map of the USA with my caricature. I will be able to stick beer mugs on each states after I have the beer. I usually let people at each event color in my map.

On the back window I will have my social media and a thermometer that I can "Fill in" as the money raised gets higher. I will also have a giant beer bottle on the roof.

Here is where I need help. The sides of my car I am looking for something unique, or cool. I want people that drive by to understand exactly what's going on, "Oh this guy is drinking a beer in all 50 states to raise money for cancer research". My mind is junk and can't think of anything good at the moment. If you have a creative idea let me know! You may even win a prize if you have a crazy good idea.

Also, if you are on the east coast and want to grab a beer in the next few weeks here is where I am going.

Drink Up To Cancer (on second thought, I guess this sends the wrong message).

Also, you need an obligatory MADD sticker somewhere on the vehicle.

Oh yeah I have the "don't drink and drive" on the car too. I don't do that at all. I have it setup so I am staying at hotels nearby every place. I can get rides if need be. It's not about me getting wasted every place. I'm more looking for some type of picture or something unique.

Delaware is 6/20 at Delaware Park. They are having a horse race named after my charity and donating a portion of beer sales. They are letting me go in winners circle too which I've always wanted to do!

As for Hawaii I haven't figured that out yet

Good luck man!

I recommend Shillings Brewery in Littleton, NH if you can make it happen. Awesome German and Belgian beers. Hotels within very easy walking distance.

Thanks. I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard of it. For New Hampshire I am having my beer at the Thirsty Moose. Has like 116 taps! Don't know the date yet.

I've been to the Moose -- cool place. Post the date here when you know it.

Schillings has only been open about 2 years maybe a little less. They are getting huge accolades though, and I think they're the best brewpub in NH. There are a few new places in southern NH that I haven't tried yet though.

How do you raise money? I'm trying to think of something that passers-by will see, think "oh, he's raising money for cancer by drinking beer", and be able to somehow donate on the spot. Like can they text to a number and get charged?

Each place puts on an event but I do have a Go Fund Me that they could donate to. Last year I had a woman stop at a red light, get out of her car and write a check to my charity real quick. People are generally awesome.

On your vehicle, you could make a graph showing how much of each dollar donated will actually go directly to funding research.

You ARE funding researchers yourself, right?

If not, you could make a graph how much of each dollar collected will go to somebody ELSE's organization, and then post how much of THAT will actually go to funding researchers.

And maybe throw in the researcher's overhead, which gets taken off the top once they actually GET whatever money's left over.

In any case, have fun spending other people's money to tour the country drinking beer!

That graph thing sounds way too elaborate for Joe Public. I think it has to be fun and just get the message "you can donate to cancer through me" across quickly.

What about something simple like "Beer for a Cure"? It kind of sounds like you are "here for a cure" in whatever strange new town you are in, and also that you drink beer for [trying to] find (fund) a cure. People are simple so I think you have to keep it simple, but the design is where you can spice it up and make it fun looking, to grab attention.

It would be cool if you could somehow attach a small container to your van or cut a hole in the side and have people be able to simply throw change into it like tollbooth style. People might think you are too shady to write a check or give hard cash at a light but a ton of people will grab change from their car and fire it into that container.

I've been forced to have thick skin for what I'm doing. Most people love what I'm doing but you get the few people that are negative. So far the $100k that has been raised has all gone to the hospitals 45k+ to Dana Farber & $55k+ to Yale. I am massively in debt for doing this project and my family thinks I'm crazy doing something that is costing me money. I've always wanted to raise money for Cancer so I don't care what people think anymore.

Sam, I think that is great!

Don't take it personally, but lots of people have been burned by people taking advantage of their goodwill. It's very fair for people to question you because their is no proof on your website about how the money is being handled.

A bit of advice:

1) If you're not registered as a 501c charity you should probably do that and note it on your website. You will be required to make certain info public and this will give a lot of people more peace of mind donating to you.

2) Some proof about what you're doing with the money. I'm glad you just mentioned where that $100k went, because I couldn't find that info on the website. Put that list on the website imo. Also, pictures of you handing over the checks to the hospital admin. I presume if you're handing over a check that size they can make someone available for a quick photo opp.

3) If you are paying 100% your own freight and donating 100% of money raised directly to the cancer hospitals, PLASTER THAT INFO EVERYWHERE! If you're not; then be open and upfront about how much is going to your expenses versus being donated to the hospitals.

Good luck!

Also, instead of a thermometer that fills in as you reach your goals, how about a beer mug that fills up?

Make it kid/family friendly by having kids get in on the action by " chugging " ROOTbeer with you.
