The fried slice is great. You cook all your bacon, sausages and eggs in like two huge frying pans full of grease. Stick a slice of bread in there and it soaks it all up. Then eat and enjoy! Not so good for the cholesterol levels, but delicious nonetheless.

Did you used to get mad at the TV whenever you saw her with Ross Kemp? It's an unfair world I tell thee!

Honestly I can't think of another Western country I'd rather not to move to than Britain.

Any legitimate concern/worry over there about the binge drinking culture, particularly the number of puking 15 year olds you have to jump over to go anywhere? So much puke in the street, so freaking gross.

Probably came from a cockney or essex geezer (chav). Accents ftw...they're quite different even from places like 20 miles from each other.

so British accents differ geographically? I always thought it was more of a class thing, like in my fair lady

that is the estuary accent, only really used by people who live round london and ******s (admittedly this accounts for about half the population )

Yes its a big worry for some people and is always being discussed politicians and newspapers. fwiw there is not that much puke in the street: although plenty of people puke on a night out, the street cleaners get to work really early and are really good. it is rare to spot puke anywhere too public the morning after in my experience. also recently there has been a MASSIVE crackdown on underage drinking. as a 21 year old i am now finding it as tough to get served without getting IDed as i did when i was like 17, and i look much older.

its both. a posh person from up north sounds differnt to a posh person from london and a working class person from london.

also nowdays it is more to do with education than class, although obviously the two are linked

I've been about 5 times and loved it everytime. I really dig the lifestyle/vibe over there. My mother and her family are from Bristol, so I've grown up with the culture even though raised in the US.

and fwiw.. English Beer>>>>>>American Beer (and no, its not "warm" imo as most of us Americans think. Its traditionaly served a little cooler than room temp. I can see how some people that drink Keystone Light and such would consider Brit beer "warm", cuz in order to tolerate **** like that it has to be freezing cold to mask the piss-like flavor.)

Without making me read Shakespeare (who is a solid English brag), what did George do to attain sainthood?

It is odd, but you need to remember he is one of the highest 'military saints', which kinds of suits our soldiering history, particularly the Knights in the Crusades - George was held as a paragon on knightly chivalry.

He is also the patron saint of Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia

St Crispin would be a good alternative though.

A national saint? not a Catholic saint? I think it is much harder to be a Catholic saint because they have to perform two miracles after they die. (although killing a dragon is nothing to sneeze at)
