Make a parfait layered with yogurt and granola and maybe some diced fruit

If you're really committed to this it's not all that hard. I use this recipe:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4686415_make...s-minutes.html

It definately takes me more than 10 minutes (probably like 20-25) but they damn tasty and perfect for when I'm hungover. plus they in season. now's the time to change your life

The day I put marmite on toast will be the day I decide to end it all.

But I agree there are a variety of things to be done with the toast. PB and banana, anyone?

This works on bagels too. The heat from the toasty make the PB all melty. Mmmmmm......

that is definitely tasty, but I can't understand why people here call that a parfait. To me a parfait is a frozen dessert, similar to ice cream but not stirred during the freezing process.

It might sound indulgent but both fruit and nuts are packed with nutrients that complement perfectly those you get from your bread. Nuts also provide protein. Simply toast your bread, skip the butter and use a thin layer of chocolate spread instead. Then top with sliced or mashed banana and flaked or diced almonds, brazil nuts or walnuts. This tastes like a treat but is in fact a nutritious breakfast.

I think you're thinking of something else. Layered yogurt/grandola/fruit is definitely a parfait. Most dessert parfaits aren't even frozen AFAIK.

Your idea that toast is fast and easy is pure conjecture at best. First you have to open a bag of bread. Then you have to turn on the toaster and put the bread in. Then you have to wait several minutes for it to be finished. Several things can go wrong at any of those intermediary steps, making it a risky proposition. In comparison, foods such as cereal, bagels, are granola bars are much much faster and safer.

This would explain all the Nutella commercials I've been seeing then.

This is a healthy and tasty way to start the day. Put as many slices of bread as you plan to eat under the grill and toast one side. Baguettes work best but any will do. Then spread the other side with a mixture of tomato puree, garlic, oregano, and olive oil. Add some sliced peppers and/or onions with a little grated cheese and grill until the cheese has melted.

Pizza for breakfast can be far better for you than it sounds. You might want to brush your teeth afterwards rather than before though, especially if you used lots of garlic and onions (these are of course optional). If you are worried about calories then simply go easy on the oil and cheese.

yeah a parfait is by definition layers of ice cream mixed with syrup and whipped cream. desserts like it all qualify though because we don't have words for similiar desserts. It's like calling a truffle a mushroom- you've got the right idea but there's something more to it that differentiates it from most fungi

I wouldn't include bagels in there, because you have to toast bagels. Have to.
