For me the programme was even shorter than that - 12 weeks. And after about 4 weeks I wasn't even noticing any side effects any more (apart from the occasional surreally epic dream).

Move up to cigars, where they respect your ashes.
This made me lol..

I'm on day 5 and honestly starting to feel better already. The cravings went from like 50x during the day down to 10-15 with less of an urge.

This doesn't compare to what you're going through. Back around the end '02 I went from being a non-smoker, to smoking 2+ packs every day. Kept at it for a few months. First two weeks after quitting were annoying. Then, not so much. gl

I came real close to caving about 30 minutes ago.

Had a client demo go really bad and my boss was on the call. Stress level was at a 9.5. I ended up forcing myself to do 100 push ups instead.

You would go back to slavery of an addiction because life gets tough?.

Man that's crazy, stay strong.

Probably the programmer's fault and not yours. I gotta a family member who assists in developing embedded real-time software systems. Tells me their always missing their deadlines, and get maybe 1 of 4 things working the way it's supposed to. Then management puts the pressure on the reps to push the product. Reminds me of the early days of Oracle.

Good read for a chuckle.

Nope. It was def my fault. Drank a bunch last night to sleep as I've been having a hard time all week falling and staying asleep. Was def out of it giving the presentation.

Good article tho.

Yeah, it was a book for sale and not an article. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Since I left the tech trade in 2001 [hardware technician],
I gotta ask:
Do programmers STILL refuse to document their source code?

[I'm guessing that there's a few hundred dickhead hipster coders @ Google and Facebook and Twitter
that have NEVER documented a line of their code.
Which will come back to haunt vast #'s of us...]

Obviously didn't read the book.. The synopsis was interesting and maybe worth a read.

Caved last night while drunk with some friends. Ended up splitting a cig but felt disgusted after. Hopefully this was just an isolated incident and I can get back on track. I'm really kicking myself in the ass this morning tho.

Quit cold turkey in 2009 after 16 years, now wife nagged me into submission. First two weeks I lifted weights every morning, cardio at night, no booze and was a total ass to anyone I encountered.

Actually a tip or just a weird troll attempt?

Not a huge lamb fan.. Anytime I had it prepared always was a little too "gamey" to me.

Think I'll stick to my sunflower seeds and gum for now.
