So eating lunch and this got me wondering where do you draw the line as tippers?

Buger king and taco bell?

What about sonic?

Chiropractor/real massage therapist? (in before happy ending not included)

Pharmacist?
Garbage man?
Mechanic?
What about at the grocery store deli?

Never taken a Taxi but I assume you tip them too, how much?

Your drug dealer? Although most drug dealers already take out gratuity (mirite??)

Bus drivers? Car service?

Plumber/electrician etc?

What about if you don’t own a home, do you tip the onsite maintenance people when they fix something for you?

Tow truck driver?

Lawyer/Doctor/Dentist?

Where do you draw the line that someone providing you a service gets extra money for it? Or is it only the restaurant industry because the owners can get away with it?

You don't tip manual labor. mechanics, plumbers, etc
You obviously don't tip legal and medical services because you're getting raped as it is.
I tip the people at Sonic who bring me my food. Usually a $1 because my mom always did.

Tip 15-20% for taxis.

Now stop being a nitty, cheap, douchebag.

If you can’t afford to get your car fixed, take the bus.
If you can't afford to get your toilet fixed, use a bucket.
If you don't like the legal and medical services get a court appointed attorney or go to the public clinic

So you tip $1 at sonic and they bring you your food? On a $15-20 meal…

It may be a straw man theory, everyone not tipping these services is as standard as not tipping in a restaurant setting is to me.

I’m really trying to figure out how it is any different other than society just does it.

I don't have a problem with OP, but I think it would be pretty funny if this thread were moved to OOT.

YOU TIP PEOPLE WHOM GET A BASE PAY LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE. YOU TIP PEOPLE WHOM SOCIETY HAS DICTATED THIER INCOME IS BASED ON TIPPING.

Quit trying to find excuses for you being a douchebag.

I have never tipped at quizno's starbucks ect. Them having a tip jar out actually pisses me off. It desensatizes people to tipping. They are making $7.50+ an hour and if people think that everyone should be tipped they will start to think everyone should be tipped the same and start tipping $1 on a $50 tab at a restraunt cause they cant see the difference between the server getting paid next to nothing and the starbucks employee getting >minimum wage.

This thread is just dumb.
I've given doctors gifts because they, say, saved my knee.
My mom would give the garbage collectors christmas cards because normally, it's the same people year after year.
You tip a taxi driver, yes.
Mechanics, grocery store deli workers, pharmacists, Doctors, lawyers, etc etc all get paid a higher hourly/a salary.
You're being dumb because you're wrong.
How can you not tip the delivery boy who delivers your food? I can't get past that.

I doubt that I spend more than $6 at Sonic. The girls normally don't get tipped, for me the $1 thing is a habit, but I usually tip like 10% at Sonic. It's a bit less than at a restaurant. They aren't waiting on me though, they're just walking food to me.

what distance qualifies as "tippable" what if it's a really big fast food restaurant layout, and the worker has to walk 20' to get your food, 30' ..... what if at Sonic you're the first spot next to the door and their trip is like 10' ?

In before Steve Buscemi reference.

Sup with the tip, unless "tip" was your penis or payment for sexual favors.

Pretty much everything you pay for is a service provided for you.

Look, you don't like to tip people because you're cheap. Because all the tips you could be giving out when you go out to eat add up to being able to buy a flat screen TV (I mean, you could just not go out, and instead of saving $80 be saving $190, but whatever we'll go with that logic).
If you can't afford to leave a tip when you go out to eat, then don't go out to eat.

Now you're just arguing semantics.
:P

Sonic tipping is habit from my mom.

It's standard 10% regardless of distance.
If she were waiting on me, like in a restaurant, I'd tip my standard 20%.

Can't afford =/ Shouldn't have to

I pay a higher rate for food that I don't have to cook myself
