You made a claim:

x = ~(mental illness)

I predicted you had zero analysis of your own to back this up. Looks like I was correct.

my friend was mentally ill when he wanted to become a woman because he had a penis injury. a thought that he probably didnt come to independtly but rather out of fear and from seeing it as an option that society accepts. that is how i analyzed the situation. you have been correct about nothing, made an ad hominem attack against my intelligence and refuse to answer any questions ive posed in this thread. why are you even posting?? you are making yourself look foolish, not correct, in my opinion. try answering the question posed from my last post for starters.

for example will anyone who believes that transgender people are not mentally ill answer this one simple question: are 100% of people who believe themselves to be the opposite gender actually the opposite gender, or are some % of them mentally ill??

the answer to that question is to search respected medical and psychology journals. unless you believe you're smarter than the scientific community of trained doctors and psychologists who study this stuff professionally, in which case you should come up with ideas straight from your gut and insist upon it repeatedly to others

i just want your opinion. why cant you just answer the question?

the former head of psychiatry at john's hopkins university believes that transgenderism is mental illness and hes been studying transgender people for over 40 years. do you think you are smarter or more learned on the subject than him?? i have looked into it and i can find no scientific evidence proving that transgenderism is anything other than mental illness but if you know of any medical or psychology journals which state otherwise please link them to me and ill be happy to read it. thanks.

Luckily for you, your intelligence isn't up for debate. I care very little about your background and capability. I post on the internet exclusively to broaden my knowledge base. Either you provide a new idea I hadn't thought of, and/or my anthropological database expands by 1.

I have depression, which is by definition a mental illness. If I decided to become a woman while symptomatic, it would/wouldn't? be irrelevant whether I had a penis injury or not.

I think you are implying that there is a special or specific kind of mental illness that makes people desire to flip their gender. I am asking, essentially, where this hypothetical illness falls on the { genetic / environmental / neglect } spectrum in your opinion. Also, what part of the brain is impacted or different? I am also wondering if your sampling of both mentally ill people and LBGT - types is greater than 1.

i just listed some things a curious person would do if they were actually interested in this subject, in case you didn't know. and as to the psychiatrist from johns hopkins, the first 3 DSMs listed homosexuality as a psychiatric disorder. the scientific process is constantly evolving our ideas about the world and ourselves

as to your % question i humbly present you with the following: when did you find out the obama administration was putting chemicals into the drinking water that turned the frogs gay? and why did they do it? i think you'll find that the answers to those questions, will answer your own question.

sorry to hear you have depression
Location: getting high
could that have anything to do with your depression?? ive been a major pot smoker(bout a gram a day everyday) for a dozen years and i know it has contributed to me feeling depressed(yes i know the difference between depression and sadness). after not smoking for a month now i can say i feel much better, though i still want to get high all the time pretty much.

they use to call it gender identity disorder and now its called gender dysphoria. like most mental illnesses some individuals are genetically predisposed to get it and something(s) in their life triggers it. drug use increases the chance of developing a mental illness. bruce jenner for example talks about not being allowed to have long hair when he was younger. >1. i know numerous amounts of gay and lesbian and bisexuals and many people whose sexuality i dont know but who are gay or lesbian. and i have a friend who is paranoid schizophrenic and bipolar. he actually talks about some of his delusions with me as though they are real and talks about grandiose schemes involving him that will obviously never come to fruition. he's very intelligent and there is a strong correlation between intelligence and mental illness. btw he says im smarter than him .

Actually weed helps open the logic gates in my brain and calms my mood. It's not the best for productivity and efficiency though.

as for calming your mood i understand how you feel, however i think thats not quite accurate. when you don't smoke weed for a day or two are you not more irritable then you would be if you never smoked weed?? i think it just mutes your feelings in the moment and leaves you less capable of dealing with your emotions when youre not stoned. thats been my experience with weed. also weed makes me more creative, not more logical. im sure im more logical sober than stoned.

I'm pretty sure there is not a single greater disparity in this universe than my perception of how my mind works versus your perception of how my mind works.

It also appears you are hung up on semantics and categorizing / labeling things. Not many people would disagree that transgender-ism originates in the brain. Whether that brain functions differently than average is hard to scientifically tell. There are some guesses by smart people but nobody knows for sure what is actually going on.

this is illogical and incorrect(i understand you are using hyperbole but still!) thus proving you are not a very "logical" person and probably do not understand what logic even is. you are likely using the term incorrectly. perhaps you mean philosophical reasoning and not logic.

log·ic - ˈläjik
noun
1. reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.

try this logic test then tell me that you think smoking weed helps.
http://www.think-logically.co.uk/lt.htm

how calm do you feel a day after not smoking weed?? more or less than after you havent smoked for a whole month? sure if you take a sedative its going to make you feel more calm in the moment, but it does not make you a calmer person.

people who smoke weed are twice as likely to have mental illness. (this is true) therefore smoking weed will make you more likely to develop a mental illness.

is that statement logical??

i think coming in here and calling me names rather than trying to have a discussion and prove me wrong just shows there is no argument that can be made logically for this mental illness being real.
Only ignorant uneducated dimwits think that mental arithmetic is a sign of intelligence. I've always been a 5+ sigma outlier in educational contexts, and I've a got a bookie's head for numbers, but that's not the point here. The point is that your shouldn't be talking about transgenderism if you don't have a minimal understanding of what a chromosome is, how the human neuroendocrine system works, and what are the abnormalities (in medical, not moral, sense) of the latter. You blather on about mental illness but probably can't explain what chromosomal defects are (prove me wrong).

None of what you have posted or written so far merits more than insult. Not all stupid uninformed bigoted opinions merit even minimal respect.

What does an understanding of chromosomal defects have to do with this? He posed a question and you respond with flippant insults. If his statements are so egregiously wrong then point out why/how. We as people should be able to talk about this, if all we ever do is call people that think like this dumb ass's, opinions change much slower.
