Occasionally someone will say you need to do something 100% of the time. like I saw this commercial for fedex or something and they are like "[we take pride in our jobs blah blah we make sure packages are delivered 100% of the time.]" And also my mom taught me to look both ways 100% of the time. stuff like that. And my old boss who said I needed to be on time 100% of the time. things like that.
Not to mention the tards who tell you to give 110%- that's impoosible I don't feel like elaborating.
There are some things that will eventually happen 100% of the time. There is a 100% chance I will die alone and unloved at some point in time but I'm not talking about outcomes like that I'm talking about selective action. There is no way someone is going to look both ways 100% of the time because they are human. Humans cannot and never will make rational decisions( not that looking both ways is always rational) every single ****ing time. You'll be in a rush, you'll be super wasted or you'll have lost like 5k- totally unavoidable human scenarios. Maybe an error causes you to miss one out of 1000 packages or get hit by a bus or not bake a pertfect cake every time. Maybe you only do those things 99.9% of the time. But the bastards who say 100% like it's some golden rule have never said 99%. Giving 99% effort or wearing pants 98% of the time isn't a solid winrate to these people. because they think you can be a machine or something.

Actually they don't think you can be a machine, these people are just stupidheads who don't understand probability or human nature or even themselves. they just think 100% is a good pretty number because they don't understand numbers. Odds and variance get in the way of their black and white ideas of what is good and bad. For these people 100% or 110% is just another part of their palatable and clean picture of how people should be.99.95 is some confusing number with a decimal place that shows uncertainty.

Real people have been through all that and this is not their fate. So give it 98% my inconsistent friends, you know that 98% is actually a pretty damned good effort.

It depends on how broad the statement in question is imo. Saying "When I leave the house I'll have pants on 100% of the time" is obv stupid. But saying "When I leave the house while I'm conscious and nothing forces me to leave the house asap I'll have pants on 100% of the time" is much more reasonable.
