It's basically a flaw in the law. Because they assume that illegal street racing puts the life of others, innocent people on the line, it's the minimum sentence for that delict.
Although, there were no houses the cars could crash in or sth, of course no traffic, and we didn't ever race without "closing" the track.

So are you 28? That sucks pretty bad to waste 2.5 years of the best years of your life.

Also, laws seem to be as ******ed in Austria as they are in Sweden, pretty fked up.

Iono anything about Austrian law, but the court should never be able to "assume" you were racing. Could be a car show or whatever.

If they want to send you to jail, they should have to prove that you were involved in illegal car racing beyond a reasonable doubt.

Buuut, I dunno if they even have rules & such in Austria, so g'luck & I hope it works out.

In 2 days my last infraction will expire, leaving me with 0 infraction points. I'm a good person.

It's the statement of the police that seems to be sufficient for the judge. They took some pictures of braking marks and stuff, but they weren't accepted as evidence.

The fact that most of us hat street-illegal tires on the wheels and that our street-legal tires for getting to/off the event were stapled at the finish line didn't really help tho.

I really have no ****ing idea what to do. How do I tell my parents, what should prevent me from going on ****ing lifetilt for the next couple of weeks running around with an HIV positive syringe and let out my frustration, because that just feels so wrong.

While I agree that street racing is dangerous and public safety needs to be protected, there has to be a difference between idiots revving up at the traffic lights and doing drag races in traffic and what we did.

We are a group of 6-7 people with the same hobby. Besides one person, no one ever had a car accident. We got to know each other at a track day and took the same, professional racing lessons for a couple of months.

There's only one reason we race on public roads instead of a real race track sometimes in Winter. They clean the tracks from snow, and well, RWD on a snowy road is ****ing addictive.

I'd wager that all of us are very relaxed drivers in traffic. We take our cars to the track, driving 20mph too fast in the city isn't really a challenge. No traffic light races, no speeding on roads with public traffic.

It's like someone who does martial arts is less likely to use his skills in an drunken stupid barfight, but rather competes in real fights to challenge himself.

I don't feel like racing on guaruanteed traffic-free roads is worse than rape.
Hell, most female blondes in 60bhp cars are way more of a threat to others than what we did, imo.

I hope you don't go to jail but I do think you need to give up street racing. Stick to the track or enter sanctioned races if you can. Good Luck.
