While just hovering under the desired 10bb/hour outcome, 181 hours is a really, really low sample size. Clearly on the right track but I'm trying to emphasize just how few hands you've played and if you look at live 1/2 objectively, even you would admit a lot of this was simply from having the right seat at the right time for some donkey donations and much less than crushing or being even good at poker.

I know this is about mtts specifically but I think he does a wonderful job underscoring variance, how if you even take a great player with absurdly good results how few of his clones would repeat that success (many of which would even be losing players).

variance isnt nearly the factor in cash games that it is in MTTs. according to poker variance calculator you need <500bbs for a <5% RoR with a winrate of 12bb/100. my problem is trying to spend most of my winnings which put my RoR at more like 95% unless i run like the sun. but i gotta live right?? well im cutting down most of my expenses by living in a tent for the meantime. btw i think i ran poorly and did not play up to the level that im capable of in those 181 hours either. ive said this to you many times also, its $3-5 with a $200 cap buyin, not $1-2. so its 4bb/hour(~12bb/100) and again i ran like dog crap.

im going to be studying for an engineering test for a city job over the next few days. i checked out a passbook for engineering from my local library. hopefully all goes well, its going to be tough, havent studied for anything for a dozen years.

Could be mistaken as I've never played in those situations nor studied for it so can't really chime in on play dynamics.

Two ways to look at 4bb/hour over 181 hours:
1. Your true earnings could easily be double your current hourly win rate.
2. You'll be at 0 liferoll next month.

P.S. Happy to play challenge at cap - won't change much though unless we reboot after a certain amount of hands.

I usually play 200+ bb deep in Macau, the more I think about playing 40bb the more curious I am about it.

its pretty simple, there isn't much room to be splashing around. ive played a lot of live 40bb poker and i can tell you exact preflop starting ranges that work. you pretty much just have to play really tight preflop. i wait for TT+, AK to raise preflop with. and i usually raise 5x or more, maybe 4x with AK. cant be afraid of getting no callers because usually you do get some callers. limp in with smaller pocket pairs. you pretty much never play suited connectors unless there is a string of liimpers and you have position. i fold TT,JJ,AK to a 3bet unless the player is a total maniac(hardly ever the case). people aren't messing around in that game with 3bets it means KK,AA. so i should probably be folding QQ too. you just wait for big pocket pairs and hope they hold up. AQ,AJ,KQ can be played for a smaller raise if in position and out of position i limp/fold. tight is right and patience is a virtue in that game. also you have to consider the rake is $7 by the turn,$6 on flop, and $2 preflop so you don't want to try to play a style where you are trying to win a lot of smaller pots.

i play a lot of 100bb poker online and my style live and online are completely different. im kind of a lagtard when i play online. switching gears a lot and getting people to think im going to pay off like a slot machine when they hit there big hand against me(though i hardly ever do im always attacking and when i get played back at i just fold)

i dont have a gramps only gram. and a smart phone costs more money cuz of data plans so im fine with my crappy 10 year old flip phone, it gets the job done. one living grandparent one living parent i can't ask them for anything cuz they are poor and i dont want to cramp anyones style so im not going to bother them living on the couch, plus they would expect me to look for a job and just generally bother me so i prefer to live on my own even if that means living in a tent.

played on saturday for a few hours. i did not win a single hand. i did not make a single pair. literaly sat there for a few hours and played AK, AQ, and KQ and whiffed. i literally did not even get dealt pocket 2's. nothing. down 165, i left with 35 bucks cause it felt dumb to play with that little. gonna go back once i get my tax refund check this week. I feel good about the way that i played.

If I were you, I'd patienly become a poker dealer until you can figure your roll out.

You need to shore up your fallback position. Preferably something better than bus driver.
