So the first cow ******* is covered with ****, right. So I wipe it away with my hands because I can't ****ing afford gloves. I pucker up my lips, plug my nose with asbestos, and blow air into this stupid cow's arsehole until I ****ing almost pass out.

Not surprised at all you are a hero KF. You are what everyone wants at their job, someone to stand against BS and bureaucratic bull****.

Thanks all for kind words. Man this has been a strange week. Prob most surreal i've ever experienced.

Gonna have a lot to think about during the Holiday break. Not gonna give them an answer tomorrow. Still not a fan of the company or direction they are heading, but i really do love and appreciate the coworkers I get to work with every day. The petition still has me in a bit of shock.

Heh. This was a much easier decision 24 hours ago.

You should leave. If you passed on a 200k+ job not to be in this situation, it doesn't make any sense for you to stay unless you really negotiate a great package for yourself.

Also keep in mind they will let you go when your not needed anymore so make it a huge package. Anything can be in that package as my brother in law tells me crazy stories of the **** that goes on in corp america all the time. If one of the things you hate is the commute, tell em you want a driver to bring you to and from work so at least you can do other things during that time instead of driving.

Oh I don't want "Joe's" job... That's what I turned down earlier in the year for the 15% bump. I have no desire to be more of a "manager" than I already am. I like the creative aspects of my job too much and I'd pretty much have to give that up.

I'm sort of a reluctant manager. I do it cause I have to, but it is the part of my job I like the least. I don't really see myself as a "master of the universe" or "leader of men (or women)". I'm just King Fish.

And I don't think there is ANY way they'd give me a car and driver. And honestly, if they did I'd feel like such a total DBag getting getting in and out of that thing I would probably refuse it anyway.

I'll take a Ferrari tho to make commute faster, but only if they paid for gas.

Having a good set of co-workers who are almost friends is hard to come by imo. Makes even the dumbest jobs bearable.

The key to making friends at work - ply them with liquor:

Took off work till Wednesday. Gotta travel to NY then possibly a second location, and probably won't be back in office till next Friday at the earliest.

At least I'll have time to think things over. Plan right now is not to commit to anything...I may not leave right away but I don't know that I can "guarantee" them anything.

Maybe if the U.S. legalizes online poker I can go back to doing the one and only job that truly made me happy. Course wife may kill me...

Bah. Eff it. Happy Holidays all. Gonna worry about this **** next week.

Ha, was just getting ready to post that is if this is a level it's the greatest thing ever created. Doubt it is a level, too much of it rings true to anyone working in a cube farm.

As is, it's certainly one of the top 2 or 3 threads in the history of discussion boards and KF is awesome.

KF, let me second candybar and others: Use this to negotiate a significant pay increase AND the authority to change as much of the company culture as you can. Always keep an eye out for your dream job, esp one closer to home, but today's economy can take anybody down suddenly. Hostages to fortune and so on.

GL and please keep posting.

Only read first 2 pages but OP sends daughter to daycare almost half of the week and is worrying about an extra hour commute that may effect his time with his daughter yet the job is paying a lot more then his current one which he will probably get laid off from.

Furthermore he owes $200k on his house, paying that off /w interest will probably take his entire life.

I apologize for the comment but I don't see who would hire OP and pay him over $200k for a job when he can't make a simple decision.

1.Take the job, and be financially stable. But you hate your job.

2. Don't take the job, go back to playing poker (lol) and writing as an income while forever paying off your house.

Honestly OP, you make a decision that will allow YOU to be happy, because it seems both your daughter and wife are already happy.

Him and his wife already make 250k+ a year combined. Doubt it will take "the rest of his life" to pay off 200k. It's not a choice between "being a bum on internet forums and making $0 and making $250k", it's a choice between having a household income of 250k vs. household income of 350k + much, much more soul-sucking sadness.

The distance between 250k and 350k is much, much shorter than the distance between 0 and 100k.
