Train me to do the job and then recommend me, and I'll kick back 25%.
Everybody wins.

Re: Beat: I was offered a job for >$200,000/yr base salary today
Was not an easy decision, but decided to pass on the opportunity. Going to "officially" begin looking elsewhere, and maybe find something closer to home.
This weekend I spent a lot of time with my daughter and family, and don't want to get home only to say goodnight. Just not worth it to me at this point in my life. In fact, I decided I would even take a pay cut if I can get my commute to 30 mins or less.
It was an increadibly tough decision, but the more i think about it, the happier I am with it.
Thanks all for advice and insight...some of the posts ITT did actually help me when I was balancing the pros and cons.

Re: Beat: I was offered a job for >$200,000/yr base salary today
Glad you came up with a decision you're comfortable with, KF. Being able to balance salary and working/commute time to maximize your happiness in both areas of life can be tricky; hopefully you find something close and lucrative. With the bank your wife is making, I'm sure you'll do fine (unless cost of living is truly hideous in your area).

Re: Beat: I was offered a job for >$200,000/yr base salary today
My ****ing boss just quit. Now they want to "promote" me.
15% raise, 200% more work. Declining may not be an option...they'll just saddle me with the responsibility anyway while they take their time seeking a senior-level exec (BOSS OF THE BOSS, ldo).
Basically they want me to do the same job I just turned down for a lot less money (internal raises are capped). Eff that.
I am now looking into purchasing a food truck.

Maybe your boss took the job that they offered to you. You can always ask more raise and give them reasons why you think that you deserve it. If you are with good terms your old boss, ask how much was his salary.

Re: Beat: I was offered a job for >$200,000/yr base salary today
Staying put has proven to be a mistake. Do not like new regime. When my bonus comes through in either a week or 2, I'm gone.
Don't regret not taking the original job, but I do regret staying. Have 2 job offers on the table, and 1 interview at a place I really want to go to. If anyone gives a ****, will post update when I know more.
