I don't know why people find this story so hard to believe.
Sorry she turned out to be a whore, OP. Although I will say that EVERYONE associated with the military seemed to be pretty whorish - I got hit on by more married guys in the military than I have been since getting out.
At any rate, thanks for your service, and I good on you for putting the kids first.
There is no "US" way of calculating child support. Every state is different and in Washington it is literally an excel spread sheet where income is entered and a number is calculated...That is what you pay. The state does not care about your bills, quality of life, etc... Since she was a "homemaker" her income is imputed using minimum wage.
All I can say for all you guys thinking of marriage; make the bitch get a job and sign a Prenump..
Hope it all works out for you op. Hopefully one day laws will be better for men when it comes to divorce. It seems that so many of us get screwed over in the end. Also, I have noticed when being around people in the military that there are many promiscuous people. Actually read something about John Holmes saying it was his time in the military that made him a whore.
Alimony does suck in general. If she was there before you made your fortune or help support you through law/med/b-school is one thing. But if she was just at home everyday watching her soaps and you don't have children then it doesn't fair at all.
Military guys don't make a lot and what if something happens and your wife/kids don't get your pension?
I agree that prenups are a necessary protection if there is a huge gap in income/assets between the couple but if the family shared assets are minimal then there's no point.
Yeah tell me that after you give away 50% your net worth in the years to come...
You don't get married without a prenub and if you do you are totally retarded and deserve it.
Prenups really only help you if you have defined assets beforehand. For Military guys it would be their pensions. Depending on the state you live in, you'd split most of your earnings during marriage as community property anyways so she'll get half. And this is the 21st century, I'm sure some of the women can make more than their husbands in the private sector.
