Rember Dolphin shorts? When I was 17 my girlfriend used to wear hers with no panties on and flash me during English class. OMG. Now I'm going to think about her all day.

Did you have an awkward ethnic friend whose lackluster English skills led to hilarious situations?

Pretty much all sports were pro sports back then, but we didn't much think of them as games. Hunting, trapping, fishing, running away from tyrannosaurs, dragging women by the hair ... all of them were done for a specific purpose, not really recreationally.

Re: Ask an Old Guy What Life Was Like Before the Interwebz

Good topic. I was born in 65. Chicago and 'burbs.

Someone mentioned being kicked outta your house on weekends or in the summer. Standard. Sports and more sports all day. Home when the streetlights came on and that was for dinner only. We were allowed to go out till ten pm when we were 12 and 13.

Walking 5+ miles to a movie theater or friend's house was nothing. Neither was hitchhiking.

Unknown adults thought nothing of yelling at you if you were screwing around. And you listened. Also, cops and train conductors would slap you upside the head if you screwed around. You accepted it and were glad not to be ticketed/kicked off the train/have your parents told or some nonsense.

Having a job at 11 or 12, delivering newspapers, hustling bags in a grocery store parking lot, shoveling driveways, cutting lawns, ect was normal, and in my house, expected. You were paid in cash.

Music was everything. The radio was actually good. TV kinda sucked cause there's was only one in the house and you rarely had control over the channel. In my house, the kids got the TV on saturday mornings only. Also, an afternoon at the library was considered a good use of your time. Pong bored me to tears. The video arcade was "owned" by those 16 and older.

people smoked EVERYWHERE.

You'd walk into a movie, and there'd be a layer of smoke several feet above your heads.

This thread is making me remember random ****. Like all convenience stores had tube testers. Water wiggles. Bonanza. Slot cars. Being called a damn hippie. My first car (1967 Rambler American).
