Agree with you 100% on that, so so so many generations of hate and misery could be avoided with a world wide drop session, Agree about mdma being the way to go for people without alot of experience about drugs,. Think shrooms are well underrated when it comes to opening eyes and minds,. Remember one of my first trips watching tv and just couldnt get the idea of why should I care or maybe thats worded wrong, but how could it be important to sit infront of the thing so so many hours a day (never really did) but enough to think it was a huge waste of time,.

I am not sure if someone has already asked you that because I haven´t read the whole thing. If so just ignore my question.
I mean I have read a fair bit of your posts and I you seem to me like an educated, thinking person just the fact that you are able to speake english that well shows a decend education. Now my question is where did you get that from? Did you finish school? If so how did you handle drugs and school at the same time? Have you been to univerity? Also where do you get the money from to buy drugs pay the rent and buy food?

No I left school when I was 13/14 , went through a stage were I wasnt as educated as I would one day like to be, So I take time to read lots of books on things that educate me , if I see a beautiful flower that I find interesting I go out and read about it, Watch different video courses offered by places to further what I little I already now. I never got much formal education so I basically learned it along the way of life, paid attenttion to the things that go on around me, I handled my drugs by selling hash, occasional robbery, I new a crazy crowd back in the day, sorta typical lowlife in lots of ways, but had limits.

Through all that I always had a deep admiration of people like Rene des carte
Mister Frued and Jung, Eastern teachings (zen and likewise) (spelt wrong im sure) we all basically lived stole and shared together. even slept in this mad boat that was abandon in the liffey docks for what ever reason. .

Please ignore the people posting dumb and mean things, I guess many people want to categorize things into good/evil, and just can't understand someone having a very different opinion about a subject. In children this is seen very easily.

On to the questions. One of my ex had a lot of friends who used drugs. Most of them didn't seem to be ambitious at all and were a bit of an easy going crowd (then again we were quite young) but she did mention of a friend who had a very high paying job and was highly intelligent who would sometimes join and use a lot of hard drugs. My grandfather who used to talk with alcoholics, the kind who live on streets, said he met many who were very smart and had been hard working people but then had a divorce or some other nasty thing happen to them and they started abusing alcohol and ended up on the streets. Would you say that these situations are common? Do some of the people you have gone out robbing with have degrees or had well paying jobs? Do people who have jobs and families like to hang out and do heroin? I'd assume opiate addiction is a lot more common than people think, I just wonder if its common to be a regular working member of society and still get high on opiates daily.

How would you categorize the opiate addicts you know, are there any similar patterns to their past i.e. for instace violent childhood and dropping out of school or do they represent all groups of society i.e. rich kids, poor kids, middle class.

Lastly are there any personality traits that you would say are more common in addicts you know than in people in general. Like for instance being sensitive, intelligent or artistic.

There seems to be different levels or circles of users, The people out mugging and such things are generally people from bad backgrounds, eg bad area's to grow up in, family abuse/neglect. So to answer your question there is for sure highley educated addicts, most of them, if not all are not the ones beggin / stealing.

However I have had friends who were for instance one was at the time studying to be a surgeon but with a specialty of bone work, He was incredibly smart and talented, side note, he played guitar like an angel , used to spend time listening to him space out on both drugs and the sound of his music,

He finished his study , and does whats called chipping, isnt addicted but users quite regulary.
Met people who were buying from/same time that were in suits with good accents and manners, eg they had jobs in corporate offices and the such,.
Poets/Artists/etc..

There are far more under under educated and rough sort of users, but I think that is more to do with background and education then anything else, if your surrounded by junkies easier to become one basically,. there is though alot more then you would think of "normal" addicts (whats normal though)

I think if I were brought up under differerent circumstances I could very well be an opiate addict. I have always been quite curious about drugs, but have never tried any hard drugs. I think I might get addicted very easily and I have too much to loose. I.e. people here aren't at all tolerant about drug use, even weed is frowned upon and most people don't understand that its quite harmless. Not sure if its good or bad that the society is so much against drugs though.

One more question, how would you change the information given to young people in school if you were in charge of the drug information policy for schools?

It always cracks me up when druggies think that taking drugs is some kind of meditative experience that will open up peoples eyes to the realities of life and if just more people would experiment with drugs the world would be a better place. The two things have nothing to do with each other. Just think about what you went on to say a couple posts later:

LoL @ that. The fact is that on average druggies are a HUGE NET MINUS to the people they affect in their life compared to people who aren't on drugs. That's why you should stop doing drugs before you have a child instead of waiting for the child to decide then it's time to stop doing drugs ainec ffs imo.
