no one sneaks off afterwards, we have a schedule. If they hook up later though, I have no idea since I'm not privy to that info.

Sure. Charisma Cole was working on her PhD, Justine Jolie is incredibly smart, Jana Cova also has a graduate degree, Jelena Jensen has a film degree and is a talented filmmaker in her own right. Many others.

No drugs on set, at least on my movies. Except viagra. Taylor Hayes was a coke whore so she was a pain in the ass to work with and always high as a kite.

How much of that is true (in general)?
Well, I guess it depends on where you're getting these biographies. I only know Aria Giovanni, and while she's a nice girl, smart does not immediately come to mind.

Are there any legal fetishes that you'd refuse to film?

I love these threads Dom, thank ya.

And yea, I'm a little too familiar with Aria Giovanni, and she definitely doesn't seem to be too smart, maybe book smart but she doesn't come off too bright when she's talking.

I feel this has kind of been discussed but not totally, are all these big beautiful San Fernando houses that act as sets owned by the higher ups in the companies or are they usually rented sets? Do most people bother getting the permits to film porn there, how often do they get in trouble for it?

I remember hearing when they filmed Pirates they told the people they got the boat from that they were shooting a Disney'esque pirate movie, ha.

scat, heavy-duty B+D, rape scenes where it is not the female's fantasy and she is obviously not supposed to be enjoying it...and since I'm straight, I don't think I'd be very good at shooting gay porn.

The nice homes are usually private homes that the owners put up on the locations market to be used as a set. We would always tell the owner what kind of film was being shot there sometimes they cared, sometimes they didn't. Every so often, yes, we'd know someone with a cool house and would use it.

What were some of the most bizarre double standards (I'm not sure that's exactly the phrase I'm looking for) you encountered? For example girls that don't mind facials but won't dare let the guy kiss them.

Did you ever work with Kira Kener? If yes, how was she?

Some were sex freaks, some were very normal and quite prudish off the set. A lot of them were in relationships.

How often someone is shooting depends on their desire to shoot and the jobs available. For the bigger stars, they are usually under contract for a certain number of films per year. Others tend to book a lot of scenes/movies in bunches and then take a break.

hmmm....not sure i can think of anything...but lots of girls will **** a guy but save "kissing" or anal for their boyfriends/husbands.

yes. In it for the money. horrible performer who did not like sex at all. One time I was filming her and a guy accidentally came on her face - that was a nono in her contract - and she started crying. I had no idea what to do with that.

You say you have worked and directed other non-porn projects (ads, poker shows etc...). With this in mind, was it difficult to get non-porn work in the 'film industry.' Did/Do people in the film industry look down on you/ dismiss you for having worked in porn? I am sure you know much more about this than I but as far as I know Barry Levison is the only 'big-name' director who started his film career by shooting porn.

Also, as a filmmaker did you learn much about filmmaking by shooting porn? Did, for example, you become a better editor, become better at pacing etc... by editing people having sex? Sorry if this is a boring question. I am just very curious about the relationship/lack thereof between the porn and film industries. Thanks.

Are you proud of this period of your life? Do you tend to not bring it up? Would you put it on your resume if you had to get a regular job?

Ever get a cool nickname? AKA "Moneyshot"?

Amputee story line please!

which is more rewarding; poker vs directing?
any interest in returning to directing?
how many girls were repulsed by your then-profession?
strangest on-set proposition?
what type of scripts did you write?
completely unrelated; favorite writrs/novels?

thanks for the entertaining read!

I worked under a pseudonym and only a hand full of people in my "legitimate" working life know about my adult experience.

Shooting, producing, editing, and lighting porn was the very best "school" I could've had. It was a fantastic way to hone my skills and figure out what would work and what wouldn't - ina short amount of time and a small budget!

I'm not ashamed of it, that's for sure. I'm more proud of the professionalism I showed and some of the more creative projects I did rather than actually being "proud" to have worked in porn.

My nickname was "Tripod," given to me by none other than Jenna J. herself.

I shot a sex scene where the girl didn't have her left leg - she had been in a motorcycle accident and lost everything below her knee.

directing - because at the end of the day I've worked damn hard and accomplished something.

I'm still involved in producing/directing/writing, just not in the adult world. If the right project cam along I would not be adverse to making porn again.

none that ever said anything.

None that I can think of. It's rather boring on-set, actually.

Quote:
what type of scripts did you write?
feature-length screenplays. I've sold two, had a bad horror movie produced, and have been a hired gun on many others. I'm currently looking for financing for a low-budget indie film.

James Joyce
Joseph Conrad
Neal Stephenson
Elmore Leonard
Carl Hiaasen
Andrew Vachss
