Credit card companies are the scum. At least on the streets you know what you're getting yourself into. CC companies will change their terms, hike their rate and add more hidden fees overnight and you are trapped making payments for the rest of your life.
I got CC's as a student about 6 years ago. Total amount of debt: About $24,000. My payments have always been on time for a long time.
Total amount owing still: About $24K
Total amount of accumulated interests: About $20K
Total amount of "service charge" and fees: About $5K.
I missed a few payments and my credit rating got ****ed. So I just told them to **** off. It's not like I needed extra credit in the last 5 years since I was maxed out. And to think that if I had filed for bankruptcy then I would be free next year. I told them they got their money and that the balance is pretty much composed of accumulated interests and fees. They said that I owed it to them according to the "term of service". I stopped answering their calls for about 5 months now.
Now they are offering me a consumer proposal for 50% of what I owe.
All my assets are now in cash. I still have a few small time CCs. I just don't trust the bank, they are the biggest criminals in this nation and they lie to you also.
Anyways,
onto topic:
OP, what is the minimum ever owed that required hiring you? I had guys owing me $150, $400, $300, etc and got screwed over. We played Poker on credit.
I live in Canada and I tried threatning (bluffing) my deadbeat junkie debtors and they treatned to show me their gun.
