Typical Indian building materials include mud and hay basically... But that is basically a hut , and found in rural areas where the population is poor... But nowadays cement etc is being used even in the rural areas , and there is nothing like a "typical" indian house... its hard to find one...

Also indian houses differ from region to region... south Indian houses are way different from the houses up north... also since there are diverse climatic and topographical/geographical difference , its hard to tell you what a typical indian house looks like...

Both region and religion affect the clothing... but Region affects about 80% of the clothing... religion affects clothing mostly only on religious occasions...

haha.. sounds so ridic when i read what I just wrote ^^ ... Hard to explain really...

Why do Indians from Southern India think that people from Northern India are rednecks?

its sort of like racism... People in south india are more educated but less enterprising... people in the north are less educated but very good with business... Basically people up north can be very shrewd and street-smart , compared to people in the south.. people in the south are more book smart and mellow and less aggressive... so basically a difference in opinion... South Indians consider north indians as rednecks (mannerless , loud , aggressive) and people from the north consider the southerners as "panzy" (can easily be run over) ...
Most of the IT/software guys are from the south and the businessmen are from the north...
