Re: WSOP Prop Bet
spent all night with marcel and i'll be perfectly honest to any potential parties on each side of this bet. i haven't done the math, but given a "fair" line, im not sure which side i'd take if i had a 10 mill bankroll. as smart as he is, marcel isn't anywhere close to as good as phil hellmuth, (who is obviously god's 2nd son). but i think marcel is an idiot and a fish for even proposing this bet and it's clearly awful bankroll / life management.
the only things i learned for sure after tonight is that bach would crush all of us at poker if he was alive today, i'd trust marcel 100%, and i'd never prop bet a degen without escrow.
probably decent chance he flips his entire roll at plo on a 51/49 halfway through the series so dont count on him cakewalking into 40 events on his own dime.

dude relax. it's a big bet. of course people are going to share their opinions if you post in a thread. i also can't believe you're making this bet because you have no idea what vegas or wsop is like. have you ever played 6 weeks+ of live poker in a ridiculously uncomfortable hot and dry climate surrounded by jokers and degens? most players go crazy by week 2. also, variance is bad for poker players, like really really bad. you should want to fight and decrease it. you should want to bet against yourself making a final table. if you ft, you're happy anyway. but if you don't, you're less sad. it's your life, but i discourage you from making this bet on any line. also, you'll never be anywhere close to as good as phil hellmuth.

Re: WSOP Prop Bet
lol at everyone overreacting look at every propbet thread it's pretty poor to just say everyone who is against shouldn't post or counter. It's not a thread where it's no discussion either post yes you are taking the bet and x amount or don't bother posting at all.
I also think my counter offer was very fair considering it didn't deal with %s just instead of betting against marcel I also get to bet on myself

Is it just me or do these two sentences directly contradict each other?

Re: WSOP Prop Bet
perca, are you trying to gamble or are you trying to hope some fish comes along and drops 150k on something without trying to do any math whatsoever? It's still unclear at this point.
People make prop bet / action selling / whatever threads all the time, and people offer commentary. That's what makes 2p2 a community. Usually if they're within reason, people don't say anything. It's rare for someone to go into a thread and say "LULZ I BUILT AN EXCEL MODEL AND DID A MILLION MONTE CARLO SIMS AND OP HAS A 7% EDGE, GOOD LUCK FISH"
But when somebody makes a thread with a line that's so absurd a 5th grader would laugh at it, people are going to come in and say "lulz." If Joe Tehan sold at 1.1 markup, I doubt munk would make 500 posts berating him, but when he sells at 1.4 munk is gonna lulz. And this post is like Joe Tehan making a thread selling for the 50k player's championship at 200% markup.
If I made a thread saying "I'd like to make a bracelet bet for 100k, only mutually played events count, looking for 5:1 in my favor" there would be a dozen "wat" and "lulz" posts before I finished brushing my teeth. If you made a thread selling action to the main event at 500% markup, people would ****ing LOSE THEIR ****, and yet that thread would be substantially less lol than this one.
If you make a thread in MTTc it's because you want to gamble, and if you want to use a public forum to make some bets then you've gotta be willing to have people offer some nominal commentary, or else it's just a spam/troll post that takes up space.
My planned WSOP sched has much fewer events than yours, and events with bigger fields, such that I'm roughly half as likely to FT an event as you are, but I doubt you or anyone would give me 3:2
