"Its amazing they can field 1500 people in a 2100 buy in Thackerville OK."

Has anybody ever heard of Winstar in Dallas? It's like an hour away?

Oh. Yeah. They have. This isn't that far-fetched.

You do realize that tons of poker hot spots run tournaments similar to this one every single year and don't even get close to 1500 entrants right? The LAPC is a HUGE tournament series and they wouldn't even get close.

Getting 1500 people into a 2K buyin is really remarkable, regardless of location.

has anyone see the "results" list from this tourney? You would think that it would be news to some poker news publication. Of course it may depend on some kind of press release from WinStar.....

ZBT and other Winstar players prepare to tilt. I was at a bar in Ft. Worth enjoying happy hour and suddenly a "Amateur poker tourney" breaks out. Tonight they were celebrating a special occasion. The woman who finished second that ZBT was wishing a HU match with is a bar poker tourney regular. They were toasting and hurraying to her fantasy finish. Had me so tilted I had to play and ended up going broke in the first hand. They play every week for a $25 bar tab. Anyone can win takes on a new meaning with this....Seemed like a nice lady but from first glance this is a perfect example of why this structure needs to be improved.

It's fun to hear stories like hers. From what I gathered, she took some kind of poker bootcamp before playing in the tournament. She raised her big hands, and got all in whenever she could. It just so happened that she won pretty much every race, every 80/20, and a couple of 20/80's on the way to 370K. lol

She seemed like a nice person though.

Yep, stories like hers keep the poker world going. Congrats on the finish ZBT.

You know, I heard about a guy who NEVER played a live tournament before. He got lucky one year and won some big tournament in Las Vegas, something called the WSOP?

Anyone else heard that one?

Of course it was different then, at least 80% of the players were pros in 2003.

This tournament had literally the worst registration process I have ever encountered. In order to buy in on the day of the event, one had to make the 1/2 mile walk from the hotel to the poker room to buy a ticket with cash, then make the same walk back to the conv center to wait in another line and "register". This registration consisted of filling out a publicity form that had to be notarized (lol), and them handing you a seat card placard. Some kind of randomization they have there. This process needs to be completely revamped and done more like other casinos where a person can buy in, sign the pub paper, and get a computer generated random seat assignment all at one window.
I think online registration will be the way to go, pay with credit card and just show up a few minutes before tourney starts! I buy the my seat online at Foxwoods and was perfect

You want to talk about f'ing tilt?

http://science.slashdot.org/story/09...tupid?from=rss

I thought she was sort of cute - I even commented on her toes. Damnit! How stupid of me... Then I started talking more at the FT than I had the whole tournament. Then I went out in 7th! Damnit!!! (this is a joke btw - but still, I did act a bit differently @ the FT and it must be her fault lol.)

I was actually happy she won a bunch of money, probably make big and hopefully positive difference in her life. Unlikely she blows it on booze and hookers.

Notice entrants are listed at 1500, ha! Not even close. Prize pool listed at over $3MM, maybe, didn't add up the numbers, but doubt Winstar would add more money to an already huge overlay. Also, wtf, I like totally finished 39th, had the stupid 39th card in my hand while waiting 20 minutes for the W2-G, not 40th, I want to file a formal complaint...

Paul Philips MIGHT have been there, I THINK I recognize him but that's just a guess.

Ther were some known pros there that did not make the money.

Michael Mizrachi went out early on Thursday, I was dealing. He was professional when a boat beat his flush. Headed down to the main room for some PLO action.

Dimitri Nobles was there on day 1A as was TJ Cloutier.
