I had A9o.
GL to you today. With 800K, you are probably top 3 in chips, no?

is this a level?.....a2 is a fistpump call versus sb open jam with less than 6bbs. i mean, you were serious?
q8 is certainly very marginal, but all other hands are real standard and you won more flips than lost.
fwiw, glad i passed on this one....structure seems real bad.

My bad, wrote this wrong. I was UTG+1 with A8. A2 guy was middle position with probably near 130k in chips. Is it still standard to call a push from these positions? It might be, but I think it does change things a bit.

They have some really nice end of the month tournys and their daily tournaments are pretty good, especially on Friday.
As for the Red River....
The first year they ran this tournament it had like 380 people and paid only 9 people and gave the winner a seat to a WPT event! It was an 1100 buy in back then. I have played in every Red River tournament until this year and they have improved greatly each year.
Its amazing they can field 1500 people in a 2100 buy in Thackerville OK. While I hate the structure for such a big buy in they have done a great job the the last 2 years running satelites and filling the tournament up, or close to it. I'd guess 90% of the field did not pay 2100 and the majority paid 440 from the megas.
I think its just hard for them to run a 1500 person tournament with a real deep stacked structure without it taking forever. They just don't have the man power.

I'm sorry but this isn't much of a defense at all... Only having breaks every 2 hours 40 minutes, starting the tournament at 10 f'ing AM in the middle of nowhere, 40 minute levels, the registration process are all things that could be changed at the drop of the hat and would greatly improve the tournament and have nothing to do with man power.
This tournament had literally the worst registration process I have ever encountered. In order to buy in on the day of the event, one had to make the 1/2 mile walk from the hotel to the poker room to buy a ticket with cash, then make the same walk back to the conv center to wait in another line and "register". This registration consisted of filling out a publicity form that had to be notarized (lol), and them handing you a seat card placard. Some kind of randomization they have there. This process needs to be completely revamped and done more like other casinos where a person can buy in, sign the pub paper, and get a computer generated random seat assignment all at one window.

So, first level was 3/6k w/ 500 ante with 122 starting players. I literally didn't get one playable hand for the entire 40m. My best hand, yes, best, was A2 of diamonds which I of course raised in the cutoff and stole the blinds and antes. And since every other hand someone was shoving ahead of me, couldn't do much.
At the 5/10k w/ 100 ante level became even more of a shove fest. I had one iffy spot. An older guy with about 90k raises to 35k. He's pushed every other time before this. I looked down to see 99. Something just didn't feel right about this. He seemed very tight and I decided to fold. Not sure if correct, but I still think it was based on situation. A couple orbits later I am in BB with about 70k. Young aggress kid pushes all in, I have A8 and call. He has J10. Flops open ended st8, hits st8 on turn. I am down to 8k. 1k for the ante, 5k for the SB. 2 yellow chips left! Everyone folds to me and BvB, I have 52s against Q8, I spike a 2 and survive. Next hand someone pushes, I have 55 and call against A10, 55 holds up. I'm almost back in the game!
New table, next level of 6/12, in SB, push with 70k with A8. Get called by A2. WTF?! Who calls a push for half you chips with that hand?! Anyway, I double up again. Few hands later I push with A10 and get called by KQ with 25k, I hold. From 2k to 170k, I'm in decent shape at the first break.
Now near end of 8/16k 2k ante level, I have 135k. I am utg+2, push with 66. Everyone folds to BB. He's says I don't have much a hand. I'm like good, really don't want a call. Well, he says, why not call. Flips over Q8. WTF?!??? Are you kidding. Yes, it's a race, but for 135k chips. 442 flop, Q turn, I'm out in 39th for 9k. Other than 52 hand, always had best hand in all in situations, lots of flips, but oh well.
The went to play 5/10 cash, and maybe I shouldn't have! Went all in on flop with my KK vs. A4 spades on a Q93 two spade board. Bad play gets rewarded so many times in poker. A on the ****ing turn for a 3k pot. Decided to call it a night after that hand.
Cliff Notes:
Out in 39th for 9k. Turned 2k into 170k then tourney donkey's suck. Then blew more in 5/10 cash in ****ty suck out.

Hey man,
It's Mike, the younger guy that played 2/5 with you earlier that week, and talked to you a few times in that tourny. Yeah that call from the BB w q8 is super bad, almost as bad as that kid folding to your 3bet with QQ and SHOWING on day 1. lmao.
gl 2 u. i know u said u dont play much tournys but you should really give them a try.

Yeah, that was pretty sick him folding to my 3bet and showing QQ on day 1. Good thing he wasn't at my first table that day were I 3bet w/ 34s on the button and showed.

I played a little with the chic who has chip lead, just proves anyone can win, especially with this shoving structure. I played 5/10 with Jim Carroll, the guy who won last year. Super friendly nice guy, but average player at best. Make it through Day 1 at this thing and then run good for a few hours on Day2, anything can happen. Good luck and TID!

Re: WinStar World Casino 3mil Guarantee?
i thought it was hillarious when my friend Mike told me on his day 1 first table.
"I have the worst table. I have two super aggressive internet guys on my left and right" and then i found out the guy on his left was ZBT. He said ZBT got allin for 75 % of his chips in the first hour or 2 with JJ vs AA and spiked a Jack on the guy. maybe a 700k jack?
