The Well: PeachyMer - Post #3792 - INTERVIEW HAPPENS!

I have been on these forums for awhile now, and with the announcement of becoming a member of Team PokerStars Online (YAY) I figured it was as good a time as any to do a well here!

Most of you know me, but I have been less active on here in the past few years, so for those who don't, I am a female poker player from Georgia! I was born and raised here but do a fair amount of traveling around the world!

I rode horses for most of my youth and teenage years, doing other sports here and there. I got a double degree in psychology and biology, with a minor in legal studies. From there I went on to grad school for my masters and phd. Mid-way through my mother became ill, so I came home to care for her. I keep my psychology going through volunteer work, here and outside the country, with a focus on children. On occasion I will work with battered women or in profiling, but my passions are child and sports psychology.

I have traveled a good bit of Africa, Asia, Europe, Central America, South America and of course North America! I am absolutely addicted to traveling! And a few years ago I got into photography, so thats been an amazing mix with my travels!

Poker wise I began playing about 6 years ago, with a start in limit hold'em full ring. I ran extremely well and moved up stakes rather fast to 5/10 and transition into 6max. I continued to play limit from 15/30 to 200/400 for the next few years. At the end of 2008 I started playing tournaments more and have been playing them since! I still mix in cash here and there, so I guess I play a little bit of everything!

I'm sure I could ramble on for awhile so Ill just let the questions begin!

Re: The Well: PeachyMer

grats on PS team!

I started in poker as a NL player, I've never been able to beat even the lowest stakes LHE. Mostly, this is because I suck. In general tho, what is the biggest leak of NLHE players transitioning to LHE? iyo

How do you feel about the belief by many that you are actually a male? I personally think there's a 0% chance, but it seems a large part of the poker world (large may be an exaggeration, but at least a lot of people) think that. You've met people in the poker world before IRL, right?

Congratulations on the PS Team Pro. I think you're a very strong MTT players. F the haters.

Congrats on Team Pro status.

Any advice for men who enjoy playing womens events?

What/who introduced you to poker and when did you decided to do it professionally?

Re: The Well: PeachyMer

As you know, there has been a lot of rumor mongering about whether you are "real" or if you are just a well known pro's 2nd account. I feel that there is no way Stars would make you a pro if you were violating the TOS, but there are still doubters. Any plans to play live in the near future and finally squelch them once and for all?

Keep up the good work.

Re: The Well: PeachyMer

Congratulations! Sounds like you've got a very interesting back story. I'd like to ask about all of it. How about:

1. Is the term "battered women" widely accepted/used in the field? My hunch is that that would be controversial and that there's probably been some debate over alternatives like "victims of domestic abuse" or "abused women" or "domestic abuse survivors", etc.

2. How do you travel? Like, who do you go with, where do you stay, etc? Are you doing organized tours, solo backpacking, living with people for weeks at a time, etc?

3. Of all the places you've been, which one surprised you the most?

4. How did you get into playing poker?

5. What kinds of barriers do you think female poker players face, or do you think there are other reasons why there seem to be disproportionately few women who are really serious about the game?
