Exclamation Warning MTT players: Stay away from WPTPoker (Party network)

CLIFFS AT BOTTOM

As a background I've played on PartyPoker for the last 2,5 years about 5-6 sessions a week, and after about 600 sessions I've had disconnect problems there exactly once. They refunded me the correct icm amounts almost instantly.

I didn't have a deal of any sort on Party, and when I saw a Finnish affiliate promoting a better-than-nothing deal on WPTPoker which is the same network as Party, I decided to change. To my knowledge WPT is the only other skin (or at least the only big skin) in the Party network, they are marketing a lot and seem to be pretty well off. They are also cooperating with the WPT live events and have Mike Sexton & co as their face.

In my first!!!!! ever session there I loaded my standard tables and played without issues for the first 5-6 hours. Then I got disconnected. It said something like "you have been disconnected...trying to reconnect", and after 30 seconds they auto-closed my tables and the whole client. Upon reopening the client I couldn't get in, it said network error (when I clicked network status it said "very good" tho?).

At the same time I had 7 other sites running without issues, and because I so knew that something like this would happen I shot a video with camtasia where I'm playing other sites and running a speed test showing flawless internet speed / playing youtube videos to prove that the problem was not at my end. I also opened my laptop and tried to login from that, and I tried all kinds of firewall off / all other programs off etc type of stuff to no avail. They did already admit that the problem was at their end and not mine fwiw.

At the time of the disconnection I had the following runs:

$99+rebuy super monday 30k gtd, starting stack 3k, I had 46k
$120 turbo 10k gtd, starting stack 3k, I had 48k
$55 fo 10k gtd, starting stack 3k, I had 21k
$22+rebuy 10k gtd, starting stack 3k, I had 12k
$33turbo 5k I had starting stack of 3k

I had 15% of chips in the 120 turbo and 4x average in both that and the 99r. 55fo I had 3x average too. Since in 99r $90 (excluding rake) gets you 3000 chips you can do some math on how much 46k is worth, I know it's not linear but it gives you a good hint, etc. My stacks combined were worth well over $3000 and I got refunded...

$319. I actually got LESS than the buyins (99r was $279 alone), not sure how they calculated that, but it's not the point. The point is that I got robbed out of drastic amounts of tournament equity in a situation that was not my fault at all (my friends couldn't access WPT either that night but Party was working).

I have been emailing back and forth with their support, they have never heard of ICM, they have never even studied the rules of poker probably, they had no clue about anything but they said that their final decision is that they are refunding only the $319. They based their decision on "you never know what would have happened with your stack, maybe you go all in many times and lose and bust! You should consider this generous because you at least got something". This is also pretty silly because I rake $3000 in less than two months on Party alone so keeping me there would have paid the refund back quickly, plus since I'm going to post this on every forum I can find on the internet it will hopefully have bigger consequences in loss of customers.

I'd like to point out once more that in my only similar case with Party they paid out the whole amount which iirc was like $2200.

CLIFF NOTES:

Stay the **** away from WPTPoker and stick to PartyPoker.com. In my first and only session there I got robbed out of $3000+.

Thanks for reading.

Can you play on other skins if you already have a party account?

Yes. Wouldn't recommend it based on this experience, though.

You can ignore the network health status bar anyways chuck- I`ve seen it at very good before even when there were mass dissconnections. Pretty disgusting from WPT poker- ty for the heads-up
