Re: UK gambling tax coming in the budget, will this affect poker?

One day when i grow up i want to have 25+horses and have a 6 figure roll. I will then proceed to act and live like a boss because I will have mad respect. If anyone calls me out for anything, I will insult their lifetime results to prove how much of a boss I am. Haters? Let them be my motivators. The world will be no match for me, bring it on.

Would absolutely affect poker fwiw

edit: The proposal is for a point of consumption tax, which means (as I understand it) an additional fee will be attached to buy-ins/rake etc for tax revenue purposes.
Does this mean individuals will also have to pay a personal tax on winnings (so essentially double taxation), or will it purely be increased rake/fees?

A long time ago placing bets in the UK used to have tax. They took this away. If they do bring it back, it'll be some way off imo.

Which, like they seem to be discussing now, was a point of consumption tax

I don't think they did take it away, pretty sure the bookies have been swallowing it rather than bettors.

Re: UK gambling tax coming in the budget, will this affect poker?

All the countries that have been regulated have banned player transfers

But some of them tax via the rake,so I can't think of any reason to ban player to player transfers. You can't avoid tax and most sites won't let you cashout large amounts of money from player to player transfers

Another rule that a lot of the regulated countries have gone with is no final table deal making......again I dont think that will be good and I don't get what the reasons behind it could be

Re: UK gambling tax coming in the budget, will this affect poker?

what's most likely to happen is a "consultation" will be announced in the budget, which will enable the very powerful gambling lobby to take their MP friends out to lunch a few times and persuade them it's a bad idea.

calm down demitri

this is pretty much my view of what will happen as well

but then I have always been both a huge cynic and incredibly complacent
