No doubt that V fields in 2008 were much much tougher than those in 2007 (much larger percentage of competent online pros). I expect the trend to continue, although the improved structures over at the Rio may mean that more online pro players chose to play more of the $1500/$2000/$2500 events there rather than the V events (it certainly influenced me to include more Rio events my plans). I still think there will be more value at CP despite the structural deficiencies but it might depend on the field sizes and composition, which I won't know until I get there and try my first one on 12th June - can't wait!

I don't understand how you can claim that the CP series has more value. Is your assessment solely based on the fact that weaker players won't bother to check the structures and go for bigger stack instead? I cant' buy that...

Re: side by side blind structure:Venetian vs Caesars deep stacks

Someone mentioned comps - you get a $10 food voucher for each Venetian tournament you register for. They will (probably) also have free food available from like noon to 6pm, they generally do that during DSE. So two free meals basically. I have no idea what Caesars offers. Venetian also has better/higher cash games.

My .02 is that you're way better off just playing the 1500 events at the WSOP. Softer fields, plus the massive overlay of it being the WSOP and all that comes with that. Playing 1 WSOP 1500 is better than playing 3 deepstacks, imo.

Re: side by side blind structure:Venetian vs Caesars deep stacks

IMO, a lot of the differences cancel out somewhat...except one...$10K off the top of the CP events for that ME seat.

I like to speak with my wallet and hate when they do that (take a bunch out of the kitty for a seat in another tourney that I had no intention of playing). So Caesars is a def no for me.

It's in the front of the main poker room.... pretty big spread you can't miss it. I dunno if it's the same thing every day or what but it's decent.

They didn't do the free food in the poker room area during this last February 2009 series as they've done at previous ones. At least not at the ones I went to (5 events).

Re: side by side blind structure:Venetian vs Caesars deep stacks

It seems that the first day was a smash hit for the Venetian, 700 people to 200 for Caesars.

Is this correct? I guess that makes the decision a lot easier.

I know the Venetian had 700 but Caesars is not confirmed. Someone told me 200 but I also have heard 500. Wish someone could chime in...

I don't know many(any) 2p2'rs who like the Caesars structure, so I doubt you will find many people who play there.

I played one there last year, and won't be back until they bring in antes earlier, and stop taking 10K away from first for a WSOP seat.

Re: side by side blind structure:Venetian vs Caesars deep stacks

Just looked at the results of each casino's June 8 $300 tourney:

Venetian: 839 players ... prize pool = $242,890
Caesars: 156 players ... prize pool = $45,396

Re: side by side blind structure:Venetian vs Caesars deep stacks

So obv the Venetian is better. That has been established thoroughly. However, with the restructuring of the Caesars events by taking out the ME seat and adding levels, has the gap narrowed? With these changes would it be more +EV to play in Caesars, especially noting that the luck factor will go down with the smaller field and that it's softer? Plus they made all they tournaments $340's.
