Rounder3989 and I are looking to rent a grindhouse for this year's SCOOP (7. - 22.05.) preferably in Costa Rica (but would be open to other suggestions).

AirBnB offers a lot of nice houses and is imo the easiest and safest way to book a place.

We are looking for 4-6 more persons who wanna join our adventure. Usually the more people we are the cheaper it is and the more fun it will be.

We are both 28yo german grinders who would consider themselves fairly open-minded, outgoing and relaxed. You should be like-minded and preferably not too nerdy, we want to take the grind seriously but enjoy ourselves outside of it. You must also be reputable, speak english fluently and preferably grind the full SCOOP schedule yourself.

I travel to Costa Rica a lot.
If you look around the web, you can bird dog a house or apartment that meets your needs.
I don't know what scoop is, how long you need a place, or what kind of budget your on.

A) beache towns - Maual Antonio Is a great but pricey quid-essential beach town. Touristy but beautiful. If you can get a house with ocean views - your the boss!
B) Jaco is not pretty, but a condo on beach with internet can be had cheap and its close to action, sin, and surfing.
C) if you want a quiet house no distractions near the beach - google eco properties near playa bejuco. A gated community called Costa del sol has 3bd rentals with pool for $1500 a month 300meters from beach in an American style house.

D) I would personally get a an apartment near Escuza mall in suburban San Jose or near the University.

You get best of both worlds with beach only 90 minutes away. Plus internet or electricity won't crash!!! San Jose is much cooler. Beach is REALLY HOT.

Okay. I just checked out your airbnb pad. Nicoya is awesome as far as peace quiet and beauty. You are not near any towns though....so unless you bring it with you (anything) you won't have it!!

Also I would verify internet and electricity continuity as outlying communities go down often. You would hate to be playing online and "BOOM" everything goes dark for 3 hours.

Remember, Costa Rica is a 3rd world country. Have fun boys.

I would def not stay in San Jose.
If you go to CR you want nature.
Definitly you can get problems with the interent in a lot of the areas where house and surroundings are awesome.
Maybe try to get a local sim card for backup.

Nature is a HUGE selling point for Costa Rica.

BUT, there are other reason people go as well! My buddies and I go down for Fishing & Nightlife after a hard day of pulling in Swordfish ...but we are older and have already river rafted class V Pacuare River ( highly recommended) and we are less enamored with the jungle (though beautiful).

Renting a house in the sticks in Costa Rica does have its charm, no doubt.
But Nothing happens in the sticks in Costa Rica. If that's what you want - it's all good. You can have peace and quiet with a spectacular view and hear monkeys & Toucan talking while watching gigantic Blue Morpho butterflies...

But hanging out with 5-6 guys in the middle of a jungle overlooking a beach an hour from a small village with no action.....mmmmm....not for me.

With my wife or a couples getaway - maybe...

I personally want ALL options while on vacation. With my wife or with my crew


If I had the coin, Manual Antonia has it all.

Nature, beaches, pretty girls, coffee, reliable internet, awesome food, river rafting, zip lining, coffee tours, hiking, bars, restaurants, horseback riding, nefarious extracarricular activities, dancing, ATV, fishing, Live Poker at Cocal Casino in Jaco: not necessarily in that order!!

But yes - if Nature is all you Want - CR is definitely the place!

Just my 2 cents. In any event, CR is a great place. Go have fun and enjoy the experience!

As for now: we're quite surprised by the little interest so far. Is there any reason for this? We are also trying to keep the costs reasonably low so if that's a concern we can for sure find a solution. We are almost definitely going but simply the more we are the more fun it will be and the cheaper it is for everyone.

Come on guys, CR is waiting !
