IF this is a one off its clear eitherway you've made a big mistake, if this is really the worst/only bad thing you've done poker it's alright but don't really know if this stuff comes from the blue and agree the Vegas excuse is weak.. even if it's true that's your own weakness as the vast vast majority of people who are otherwise legit get so "owned" by Vegas even if they run bad...

would imagine the main was legit since it would be so dumb to post that list and have people not on it given circumstances, I've met you/Ben a couple times briefly and played a few times and rly as others said wouldn't expect this for various reasons so it's disappointing.. I hope this really was a one off and it will never happen again. I also rly hope that if this hadn't come public that you wouldn't have gotten out of control because if this is the only thing then relative to what it could be I guess at least it's a little "better". and people do make mistakes even if this was particularly poor form with premeditated stealing and lying to friends... if this could somehow be proven to be the only thing wrong in poker you ever did then sure I would hope eventually people can kind of forgive you even if they don't trust you again..

if there is anything else please just tell the truth now as it's much better to come clean then have others post or figure out. and if it's not super clear any swaps or investments in the 5k should be obviously refunded in full, this is like the minimum that should happen because you essentially tried to freeroll people, so should be slightly punished for that so paying people for a swap that didn't cash the % you swapped (plus obviously any %s sold and even more obviously second bullets charged should be refunded full) as well as returning money to anyone who cashed.

posting receipts is good, but not definitive proof, since most tourneys let you unreg.

so, in the end they're not really that important, unless it's a photo on the table with a receipts & stack aside (although even this could also easily be faked), or a picture taken AFTER the event.

yeah was just about to write this after re-reading the Op about receipts not being the best proof, although when "unexpectedly requested" like in the OP can still be damning

In the best case scenario you are still a degenerate gambler who has proven to not be trustworthy and not capable of handling money the right way.

In a worse case scenario you just stole money and were hoping to get away with it. Either way nobody should ever put any faith in you as a poker player any more and you should seek help for your problems. I'm guessing right now you probably think that degening away money that was meant for tourneys isn't 'that big of a deal' and that you don't have a gambling issue, but this is unfortunately probably not the case.

To anyone who had swapped % with him in any event and ended up cashing, I would never pay this guy his money and not feel bad about it for a second. you reap what you sow

yeah didn't mean to imply it is definitive proof, just something that takes 2 seconds to do and there is no good excuse not to post a pic of receipt and stack at some point when tourney is starting. Literally takes 2 seconds to tweet out a pic.

This WSOP i put a big schedule together. For tournaments that were under <$2k, sheets had 35%, and i sold 5% and 2% to private investors. For tournaments >$2k, i sold a package for which i sold 38% of my action. I also had 2.5% swaps in all events played with four guys, Brian Altman, Billy Chattaway, Matas Cimbolas and Oliver Price. I may have swapped up to 10% more in those tournaments with other players but always had 40%+ of my tournaments, and i want to make this visible to investors/swaps that throughout the series i wasnt overselling action.
After i busted the WSOP main event on day 1 (for that tournament i had 38% sold and 22.5% in swaps, am quite happy making all that visible and breaking it down as to show people who are in doubt. I am collecting the tournament receipts for investors who want them.
What happened after the main event is where i let myself down and others. It was time to get out of Vegas, after a long summer. 6 weeks here giving everything and falling short I began to make bad decisions. I hadnt been home since April but I had one tournament left which i was determined to play as i had sold for it and was a good shot at finishing the trip in profit. I busted the main event on day 1, and had some free time before the venetian main. I started playing casino games and as you can imagine, started losing. I started to feel disorientated being here and became desperate. The cash i had for the tournaments had gone. One mistake led to another and i sold more action for the tournament, and also lost the money. I played on more than one occassion with some swedish guys who were sitting down at palazzo.. It reached the point where i just didnt have the buyins i needed to. I was not thinking straight and sold more action to the Venetian $5k than i should have. It reached 90% which was fine as 35% went to a backing deal. From there, the day before the tournament, i made the biggest mistake. I messaged two close friends and they bought 20% each of two bullets, (sergio and adrian) which took the tournament from 90% to 130% and from there I made swaps of 5% with 4 guys, Ankush, Jono, Goran and Rocco. After continuously running bad I really didnt envisage what could have happened should i have built a stack in the tournament, I did not throw my chips away while at the same time in the back of my mind i was aware i would have serious problems if i went on to cash big. Its all extremely pathetic im well aware. I went down pretty low on chips and managed to build up stack again and busted after dinner. None of the hands i played were anything different to how i would have played in a tournament where i had 100% of my own action. Having said that, if i were to have gone deeper I would have been in trouble, clearly.
I told Mark, sheets, Jono that i played two bullets when i didnt. I cleared that up the following morning and Mark became suscipicous rightly so about what had actually happened here.
I realise ive let down investors, and everyone close to me. Reputation in poker is fragile and i realise its very much one strike. Once you steal, you lose the trust of the community for good. I hope those of you who know me well and worked together for many years that will see this has been a one-off mistake. I have been travelling the world playing poker tournaments pretty much living out of a suitcase for the last few years. I'm here to make money in poker tournaments, and for people who invest. I made a foolish mistake at the end of this summer which i know isnt acceptable under any terms. But It has happened, and i have to face up to it and do everything i can to correct the mistake. I have spoken to the people who invested in this tournament and told them they are getting refunded in full, and i have the means to do so. I also believe that this has happened for the best, and I need to look at myself and why this has happened, and where to go next from here. Once again, im sorry to those i have let down and feel totally ashamed ive made such a costly error of judgement and honesty. Im open to hear any advice on which people want to give to come back from this, although im sure the majority will just say quit poker, Personally i won't let one mistake hold me down and I will come out the other side. First things first i need to pay back the people for that tournament.
A paragraph or 2 wouldn't have gone astray or I guess that was intentional.

It's seems clear that the main event wasn't a scam due to the quick transparent nature of the replies from kidcardiff. Is their any questions over the rest of the package sold for the series?

Pretty surprised/ disappointed to see this happen. Seems extremely out of character from someone who has always come across to me as very professional and composed. How you can jeopardise close friendships/ relationships and your reputation over something so trivial like this is completely beyond me. All I can say is that poker has clearly brought out the worst in you, and it is not healthy for you to continue playing. I would recommend strongly considering finding something else to do/ taking a sebatical from poker. It's a shame to see a seemingly intelligent man with a lot going for him being reduced to stealing from his friends and investors out of what I can only imagine is desperation/ stress.
