Portugal has one of the highest (winning player )/ (player) ratios in the world and the reason behind this is that we are a poor country so few people can afford to play and lose.

It's true that there are poorer countries out there but we are also top 10 in broadband internet access per capita so we're probably near the bottom in the (average wealth)/(online poker popularity).

All summed up, if you see portuguese on the table, beware.

I think it has some historical roots. Specially on the case with Brazil. That "proud" is a quite common reaction of minorities. "Minorities" (or people that feel diminished in some way) tend to overcelebrate when they're successfull.
