Am I reading this right? Every person who makes the final table is effectively selling all of their image rights to Pokerstars or ANYONE who Pokerstars gives a semi-warm frig about forever and ever amen? And not just limited to WCOOP stuff but on...well...anything at all ever.

How is this remotely acceptable in any way at all?

If it's the same for all 215$-320$, even if it's just a mention of my name on their website, I will not play any of the events!

Sent a PM to Bryan PS now to get an answer to this bollocks BS.

Pretty scummy, and the message isn't even trying to hide the fact that it's scummy.

yeah, it ruins the anonymity of online poker. it's bad for the isildur types and the business men that don't want the publicity

It says for the main event, what if you ft and refuse to call them so they can get a recording of your voice? If you refuse to give them a picture of yourself?

This seems pretty scummy

Pretty sure this is the same thing you sign whenever you play a big EPT/APPT/WSOP etc.

Thats a good question. I don't think they are going to track you down to ask you for an interview if you don't want to give an interview.

Why is everybody so anti against it? Seems a little weird?

a lot of ppl want to stay out of the spotlight and there are a ton of good reasons for it. for example, i wouldnt want a girl im dating to google my name and find out that i binked a milly or w/e. other people might have an issue with it because of taxes. and some people just wanna stay private in general.

/edit: also, in sweden for example there are biker gangs targeting high stakes poker players. in a lot of parts of the world, people been kidnapped and/or killed for much less money than a potential WCOOP main FT score. might sound paranoid to some but i dont think it is at all. some czech gang was targeting martin staszko for example. GOOD JOB STARS, SMART MOVE

This is ridic, like it may be an extreme example but to some degree they are putting ppl in danger with this. I am lucky enough to live in the UK where there are a **** load of wealthy ppl (which still doesn't mean nothing could happen to someone from the UK) but if you were from a poor country in eastern euro or something you or your family members could actually be in serious danger because of stars outing your name after you bink.

I think it was to a limited extent as far as promoting the WCOOP went. But the way this is written is massively broad. For instance, say you came 9th in the WCOOP main event, and twenty years later you discovered a cure for cancer. The way this is written, Pokerstars could sell your image rights to Captain Snake Oil's Sure-Fire Remedy Incorporated to do anything they damn well please with your face including flashing it all over their own products if they so wished and there would be the sum total of bugger and all that you could do about it.

def has to change this. it's ******ed..

Privacy, seems to be a big factor in this. Like mentioned before. People living in 2nd and 3rd world countries, seems to be a perfect example (like others mentioned before).

Also why 3rd parties? That PS wants to put your "username" on the website, blogs etc. seem's very understandable. But for PS to give the right to 3rd parties to use the real name, image etc? I don't understand the logical reasoning from PS to do so!?

I think PS should come in here an elaborate on there plans for usage, and why they think it would be beneficial to use real life names? Not saying that will/would. But putting there right to do so. is kind-off scary and feels like an invasion of privacy.

Really!? How does that look weird??

We are playing under usernames, not real life names. The names are private and secured in general.. Regardless if you have nothing to hide or not. If you are using a service where you hide behind nicknames, it should be the choice of the user what (personal/private) information comes out...

same discussion with facebook, using, recording, monitoring every move you do/make.. It doesn't matter that you do nothing against the law or something you should be afraid of hiding. It's all a matter of privacy and your human rights that people in the past fought hard for... Giving up those rights, but not caring cause you do nothing wrong anyway. seems insanely wrong.....

Further we are playing PS.. how do they intent to use our information/names etc for 3rd parties?! Selling our image for free or our private information, gives me serious concerns in regards to my privacy.

outing your name can have very dangerous consequences.

how many wsop main winners were robbed? raymer duhamel etc

This is def. overboard for Stars to do this. I don't know what they have planned for us signing away our privacy etc. If it was something directly related to the tourney I'd probably be ok with it, but the way it's written Stars could use my name or license out my name for anything and at any time and I can't take part in something so vague.

Not sure if you meant to say 'Why is everyone against this' or if you actually meant 'Why are people against those who are against this'.

I don't think anyone is in favor of waiving their rights.
