Re: Please Fix the Lag Stars

Bryan --

The problem with comparing the number of complaints from regs to the number of overall complaints should be obvious.

A casual player is much more likely to assume the problem is on their end and therefore not report it. They might not even be aware of the support services or the possibility of refunds and will therefore suffer in silence or *gasp* stop playing on Stars altogether.

There's clearly an issue here. How many complaints were you getting before the recent updates? How many are you receiving now? Please fix it.

Before the update containing pre late reg payouts and shiny final tables, I personally had no lag issues whatsoever and this was running NOD32, Skype HEM2 etc etc, three big drainers of CPU usage. POST that update there was an IMMEDIATE difference when running stars software. The only way I could play more than 4 tables smoothly with other programs running was to disable my kaspersky anti-virus even though it's CPU usage is the same as stars.

This solved the problem for the majority of February until about five days ago when the lag started coming back despite not running anything except stars and HEM2 with kaspersky turned OFF.

Evidently there are two things we can glean from this.

1) Turning off Anti-virus seems to (in general) measurably improve lag issues.

2) The lag issue seems to have a specific start time. I posted in MTT discussion thread the day after it started happening and several people requoted the same issue (this was immediately after the update described above)

Just thought breaking it down a bit may be useful for your software developers
+1

This, this and only this. It Doesnt matter if you´re use to run 100 apps/programs while grinding, if it worked before the updates it should be working too after, just compare taking into account pre and post updates laggy complaints.

agreed to all of this. I don't get what is so hard to understand about the recent issues/complaints.

Re: Please Fix the Lag Stars

Ok simple enough:
1. I made no hardware nor software changes in the last 2 weeks.
2. I never experienced lag before recent PS updates.
3. Now I do, and it's only PokerStars that lags. No way whatsoever it's the ISP.

This is an interesting point, anyone else paid attention to the exact times the lag occurred?

"This is not an issue at our end, please check things like your router settings. Also avoid making large downloads while playing."

Re: Please Fix the Lag Stars

I use HEM1, StarsHotkeys and TimeOutHelper (WinXP SP3), and I'm experiencing small lags, too. I play $2/$8/$3r 180s + occasional MTTs (~24tabling most of the time), and it seems there's a ~5 sec lag whenever a new table opens, and sometimes there's a ~3-5sec lag every ~10-15 seconds even without new tables spawning. Didn't experience a longer disconnect so far though. During those lags my CPU time is at 100%, and play will only resume after it drops back to 'normal' (20-50% on my lol-Sempron iirc).

I don't know exactly what process causes the high CPU time though, will have a closer look at that later today. I can't exclude HEM as causer since for a couple weeks HMHud.exe will remain active at 10-20% CPU time even with auto import turned off and no tables running (anyone else experiencing this?).

Yes? And atm that's is smt that proves what?
Every update bring up new bugs. Why?

There simply aren't that many reports, and there doesn't seem to be any cause which can be narrowed down based on what little we have seen on places like TwoPlusTwo.
Ok, lets see a recent 2+2 only bug,

When playing 180 mans i have to open, close and reopen the lobby to get the players listed.

Can't remember when this issue started.

And this seems to get worse, atm can't view the players at all,

I was expecting that smt so obvious would not need an end user report.
But after weeks i was forced to report it.
And yes was reported first to me by a casual player.

Atm seem that your dev team does no bugs test.
We do it for them, and we have to build a solid report for each bug!
Nice job stars.

Time to fix payout structure calculating algorithm maybe? Stars please stop blaming 3rd party software. I've never used TableNinja.

Re: Please Fix the Lag Stars

It's not third party software. 100% fact. This is all stars and it's disgusting that they're still trying to place the blame elsewhere. Absolutely disgusting, stars and Bryan you should be ashamed of yourself. Still no admission, still no apology.

The first step you should take is to roll back the patch that implemented the payout calculations, as this is currently the number 1 suspected cause on this forum.
