Time Bank
  1. Each player will be allocated a time bank which allows the player extra time to make a decision.
    1. The time bank depletes as it is used. If a player elects to use his or her time bank, other players at the table will be notified.
    2. If a player fails to act in time, the time bank will be activated automatically if the following conditions are met:
      1. The player is connected to the system when his or her time expires; and
      2. The player has money invested in the pot (blinds and antes are considered as money invested in the pot)
    3. The time bank cannot be manually extended or replenished by PokerStars.
Seriously?

I was playing this hand all the way till the river, where after I checked I got instant LAG (I wasn't disconnected by my own, my internet connection was 100% fine as other pages were loading instantly - I wasn't downloading nothing and my lobby was minimized) - after about 15 seconds of LAG pokerstars network connection bar appeared (my internet connection was for 100% fine at this time), and then after another 15 seconds or so I got back to the table and the hand is over. (guess I screwed up, as when the LAG would come before I checked maybe Table Ninja would activate timebank, huh )

There should be disconnection timebanks available all the way of the tournament, especially when you are in the middle of a hand - not only on a FT's!

Few min. later after that situation occurred (and I was on semi-TILT) I was observing tournament table of my friend who was playing SM + Sunday 2nd chance and he was disconnected also, but as he stated later it was because of electric power went off for a minute or so and during that hand he was first in to act pre-flop as everyone folded and his timebank WAS ACTIVATED for about 100 seconds on both tables... Not sure where is the difference between those two situations, but whatever...

Nevertheless, as already said - it's just ridiculous you are coming here with your policies and making excuses with no further information and decisions when it will be fixed and how you could refund all those loses to players...

The point itself is good, I personally also think LO is making a fair one as well as far as the way its being done. Also im flabbergasted by the lack of actual proof of stars employees lying on purpose/server load/software updates gone awry. You just cant say that stuff without somehow backing that up. Again, not saying there is no problem but I feel like im back in high school reading this ****. BE proffesional even though you dont have to as a customer.

Edit
And lol at flaming bryan for simply explaining when a certain action is being taken.

Personally I'm not flaming Byan for explaining what happened in my hand, it doesn't matter to me now - I just rather see him informing us what steps were made to fix this problem and when it will be done...

I think its about high time that Stars sent a senior figure from their development department into this thread, or just some sort of senior/manager type figure in general.

Bryan tries to do what he can, and we appreciate that, but it's clear he's a pawn with no actual technical knowledge about the issue and no clout within Pokerstars as a company, and to be quite honest I am sick to death of seeing him come in here and P.R. the fk out of the issue whilst nothing whatsoever actually gets achieved.

And his last post was obviously just beyond absurd. Full troll mode.

This.

The way stars/bryan has been handling this in general has made me lose a lot of faith in the company.

Isnt it painfully obvious that they dont really know what the problem is? It sure looks that way to me, so telling them to "fix it" is just so general. I wished bryan knew the answer but was just not being honest and lying about stuff they do. Instead hes out here asking if updates affected anyone, that doesnt even look like they are able to reproduce the problem which is huge.

It's clear I have upset you, and I'm sorry for that. I was not assigning blame to you in terms of why you were disconnected, I was just explaining how our system deals with disconnected players. For many years now, a player who is disconnected in a tournament is treated as if they're not there, and therefore the time bank is not activated. Long ago, a disconnected player would have had their time bank activated, however in response to many complaints we changed this, as players were upset by a disconnection wiping out their time bank for an entire tournament. We do have a special system which adds extra time for reconnection to players beyond a certain level in the tournament, but it only activates at the final table.

Solving the lag issue is the #1 priority at PokerStars. This is a difficult problem to solve as we have been unable to duplicate the issue on our end, and it seems that there is no reliable pattern in terms of who is affected, when, or why. The only thing we know for certain is that it's affecting MTT players.

We are about to try something to see if it helps the situation. In tracing the timeline of this issue, the main tournament-related addition to the client has been the dynamically-updating prize tables. As of 7pm GMT (8pm CET / 2pm ET), we are turning them off and observing the effects. I would like to ask that any player reading this post who has consistently had an issue with the lag to report back in this thread (or PM, whichever you prefer) and let me know if the lag goes away for you after this time. Any effect may not be immediate, it may take until 7:30pm GMT to see any change.

Just as importantly, if anyone continues to experience lag, I would like to hear about that as well. If after 7:30pm GMT you are still experiencing lag, it would be helpful if you could send your system logs to Support, subject header "FAO StaffBryanS - LAG". To do this, follow these instructions:

1. Open the Main Lobby
2. Go to Help
3. Go to Log Files
4. Select "Save Log Files as ZIP..."
5. Save the file to your Desktop, you may have to navigate to the Desktop as the default location is the PokerStars Settings Folder
6. Reply to this email
7. Click on Attach File (or similar option)
8. Select the ZIP file located in your Desktop or wherever you chose to save the file
9. Click OK and send the email

Please note it is important that you send us these files as soon as you can as they are only kept on your hard drive for a period of one day.

Also, if you could answer the following questions, it may also be helpful to the investigation:

What exactly happened? What did you see?

Was there a long delay after action on the table?

What were you trying to do at the time?

Did logging in take a long time?

Was the opening of a window delayed? If yes, which window?

When did the issue happen, specifically?

What kind of game(s) were you in at the time?

What other programs were running at the time? (Which browsers, games, other applications?)

I realize that this situation is frustrating for everyone it's affecting. As I mentioned above, solving this issue is the absolute #1 priority at PokerStars. We appreciate your help in sorting things out.

When people are saying "Stars froze for 30 minutes" does that mean you couldn't exit/restart the client?

I could restart the client and observe tables normally without lag, but as soon as I logged in and stars tried to open the tables it froze again.

I could see myself sitting out and blinding out which was quite lol

The few times i had it happen to me i would generally have it totally freeze up and would be unable to do anything to the program outside of ctrl+alt+delete and closing it through program manager. Then i would have issues with logging back in, and could sometimes get back in quickly.

I personally havn't had it very badly, and since the end of MM have noticed very little lag except for the sunday freezes when major tourneys start. I do know of tons of regs who have daily lag spikes and ps is unplayable because of it.

FINALLY. we have been telling you (pokerstars, support, etc.) for WEEKS that we think this may be the issue. it is unbelievably ridiculous that we have had to wait that long for stars to turn off the auto payouts

Obviously ridiculous that it took this long to try something extremely obvious in order to fix the issue. Nevertheless I am grateful that something is happening now.

How long will this test be running? As I'm not playing today but obviously am extremely keen to attempt a full session under these new conditions. Will they still be turned off tomorrow?
