It's clear I have upset you, and I'm sorry for that. I was not assigning blame to you in terms of why you were disconnected, I was just explaining how our system deals with disconnected players. For many years now, a player who is disconnected in a tournament is treated as if they're not there, and therefore the time bank is not activated. Long ago, a disconnected player would have had their time bank activated, however in response to many complaints we changed this, as players were upset by a disconnection wiping out their time bank for an entire tournament. We do have a special system which adds extra time for reconnection to players beyond a certain level in the tournament, but it only activates at the final table.
Solving the lag issue is the #1 priority at PokerStars. This is a difficult problem to solve as we have been unable to duplicate the issue on our end, and it seems that there is no reliable pattern in terms of who is affected, when, or why. The only thing we know for certain is that it's affecting MTT players.
We are about to try something to see if it helps the situation. In tracing the timeline of this issue, the main tournament-related addition to the client has been the dynamically-updating prize tables. As of 7pm GMT (8pm CET / 2pm ET), we are turning them off and observing the effects. I would like to ask that any player reading this post who has consistently had an issue with the lag to report back in this thread (or PM, whichever you prefer) and let me know if the lag goes away for you after this time. Any effect may not be immediate, it may take until 7:30pm GMT to see any change.
Just as importantly, if anyone continues to experience lag, I would like to hear about that as well. If after 7:30pm GMT you are still experiencing lag, it would be helpful if you could send your system logs to Support, subject header "FAO StaffBryanS - LAG". To do this, follow these instructions:
1. Open the Main Lobby
2. Go to Help
3. Go to Log Files
4. Select "Save Log Files as ZIP..."
5. Save the file to your Desktop, you may have to navigate to the Desktop as the default location is the PokerStars Settings Folder
6. Reply to this email
7. Click on Attach File (or similar option)
8. Select the ZIP file located in your Desktop or wherever you chose to save the file
9. Click OK and send the email
Please note it is important that you send us these files as soon as you can as they are only kept on your hard drive for a period of one day.
Also, if you could answer the following questions, it may also be helpful to the investigation:
What exactly happened? What did you see?
Was there a long delay after action on the table?
What were you trying to do at the time?
Did logging in take a long time?
Was the opening of a window delayed? If yes, which window?
When did the issue happen, specifically?
What kind of game(s) were you in at the time?
What other programs were running at the time? (Which browsers, games, other applications?)
I realize that this situation is frustrating for everyone it's affecting. As I mentioned above, solving this issue is the absolute #1 priority at PokerStars. We appreciate your help in sorting things out.
