Kelvin, consider that each EPT stop costs 25-35k EUR, depending on whether you have to one or two-bullet the high roller. Playing an online-centric schedule from South America (I assume) requires vastly different BR requirements than trying to keep up with the EPTs/other live circuits in Europe.

Obligatory disclaimer that I'm not excusing Paul's behavior here, merely pointing out that six figure downers are not that far from the norm for EPT regs

That statement could not have sounded any more self-absorbed and fake. It's like you sat down with your brother and came up with list of standard stuff to say.

When the fact is that you are only sorry that you got caught. If you hadn't, you'd still be ripping off people like it's 1999.

It really annoys me that padjes only speaks about himself. Not a word about his victim and the stress he had to endure.

well, what was he supposed to say? he was supposed to apologize, which he did, and people wanted an explanation for this mess, which he gave. not here to defend him at all, but criticizing his statement doesnt make any sense rly.

it comes down to what he does now, rather than what he says anyway. he should be working out a payment plan with the people he owes and start (as well as finish someday) paying everything back that he stole. that should be his priority now. how he handles himself posting in this forum shouldnt be his main concern.

much alike many others here i always had a lot of respect and admiration for padjes. sad to read this now.. not really because it happened but more so because I would have thought someone like him would have been more straight forward about poker-- the business side. especially after he, himself, probably has experienced and seen a lot of this type of thing over the years. clearly he knows right from wrong.

poker really is a beautiful thing and as simple as it gets. if anything i hope others can learn something here, although this type of thing happens so often its unlikely that anyone with this type of personal flaw in them will allow the experience of reading about these type of things learn from them.

my only advice to anyone reading this thread-- be honorable.

if you have any skill whatsoever you can always find support if you ever need it (i.e. backing, maybe loans). once you become dishonorable its all over for most, especially less skilled players, the risk/reward is too far gone to repair. even for the most skilled its too hard to clean it all up after you do wrong.

be real. be honest and transparent. poker can provide so many beautiful opportunities to you if you work hard and never betray those who trust you.

big sigh..

well said, trust really is the be all/end all......doesn't matter how good you are if you can't be trusted

I have to agree with the guy who said padjes seems like a nice guy, hes being 100% honest, you can't be mad at that. We have to remember, and empathize, with how bad padjes has run backerwise too (though, some of it he did to himself). Like, why would you choose such a young backer?? There are tons of backers out there who are living out their twilight years.. (see sheets, bax and probably a ton more I don't even know of). Fedor is like 21 years old for crying out loud, it's pretty silly...

Good luck padjes, dont listen to the haters. Haters gonna hate and there's nothing u can do about it. You're a good guy, keep your head up.

stop posting pls you dont even know Fedor and you could probably learn a thing or two about life from that guy but.. you might never will because you look like a very short sighted person.
and being 100% honest do you even know what 100% means?

Anyways.. about the situation I hope the 2 of you will fix this problem asap. GL

" clearly he knows right from wrong"

Ah so it's actually the backer's fault that Padjes took his money. I'm glad we got that cleared up. #teehee

Haha, has to be a troll.

Since it looks like they have worked out, is it not standard for OP to comeback here and update what was the outcome of Audit and how they have solved the problem?

Paul making a statement three days ago devoid of any specific repayment plan does not necessarily imply that they have worked everything out already

Also GC has to be a troll right? "how bad he's run backerwise" - sheets/bax would have immediately noticed a discrepancy instantly and snap owned him, so if anything he's run quite well backerwise.

If not that part then surely the "he's being 100% honest, you can't be mad at that." part..he makes one statement and suddenly that is 100% honest, we can't really verify any of his comments, also not the part where he indicates he used the money to pay off other debts.

any good or bad news ??

or is this closed , i saw padjes playing again tonight , so assume there is an arrangement and he is still playing backed? or is it none of our buisness at this point ?

He came 2nd in 550 eu live event Venlo (nl) few days ago hihi

Id have to say in my opinion its pretty bad etiquette to come warning the community about someone doing unethical things in a situation like this then give zero updates of the situation.

How exactly do you expect him to pay back ~80k or whatever he supposedly owes everyone without working more hours at his job (playing MTTs)? You can't have it both ways.
