like doggz already mentioned, your requirements vs price are going to be very tough. beyond resolution, supporting a 30" monitor is also going to be an issue at that price range. not sure which 30" you have, but if you need dual-link dvi that is almost always going to be a big video card upgrade for a laptop. if you have display port it opens up more options, but very few are <$1k right now.

every cheap laptop thats on the market is 1366*768 and has no ports that will support a 30" unfortunately.

The Vaio I listed at the start of this thread has HDMI out and a video card that can support a 30", but I haven't been able to figure out if HDMI supports the same Dual-link standards as DVI. Any idea?

Yea, perfect choice for a SSD boot drive. No idea about transferring your OS, but you could always do a fresh install.

but - You'll need 2.5 mounting brackets if your PC case doesn't have them. The SSD is smaller than a normal harddrive and doesn't just fit in a normal 3.5 bay in a PC.

i'm looking for some recommendations on mouses. doesn't have to be baller, but should be comfortable and have good/great carpal tunnel prevention compared to standard mouses.

basically anything by logitech. g9x is great for poker.

regarding keyboards, logitech k750 is the nuts. wireless, solar-powered in the same way that calculators are. Easy to type on, looks classy, light, reliable according to the internet.

what you mean calibrate colours? Are you on Mac or PC? which version of windows you running?

If windows are you in: Control Panel > Appearance/Personalization > Display > Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings > Colour Management

?

All mine are default, did you have custom settings before and you updated/reinstalled your OS and it changed them?

Hey, I know nothing about computers but haven't owned a desktop in a few years but will likely be playing online more so I should probably buy one.

I plan to use it almost exclusively for poker, and want to be able to play ~30ish tables across 8ish sites with 2 30' monitors with a HUD with no real lag. Cost isn't too huge of a concern but I don't really want to waste money if its unnecessary. Any recommendations? Also I'd say my biggest concern is not wasting a ton of time nit-picking over what to get since I don't really know anything about computers

). I'm sure someone ITT can help. You'd just need a computer savvy friend to put it together for you. You might even be able to do it yourself with some help, it isn't that hard.

If you're a heavy grinder and you're having problems, consider switching to a left-handed mouse, or a vertical mouse like the evoluent, or perhaps even a glove or pad. Other than that, stick with the g9x.

this. keep in mind if ur just grinding the cheapest vid card that has 2 dual link dvi ports will do. Make sure you get an ssd that is big enough to hold ur hhs and os. I opted for a 120 gb sdd and plan on sticking an old 500 gb hdd in the pc for my media once I get my pc in the mail.

I got an i5, 8 gb ram, 120 ssd, cheap vid card, w/a silent power supply, silent case fans and sound proofing for $750 as a black friday deal.
