Re: ***Official Laptop/Monitor/Computer/Grinding Equipment Discussion Thread***

Does anyone know if such computer chairs exist where there would be space for a mousepad (I couldn't explain it in English, so I drew a picture) here?

So that you could lean back in the chair, and the mouse could be used on the space where your wrist is located, instead of leaning forward when it's on the table?

I was recently diagnosed with a stomach condition which is making my sessions hell, every time I lean forward it feels like someone's punching my stomach. I don't want to go full time live pro so it'd be great if there was a solution

Also are there any chair recommendations for poker players in general? Ergonomy-wise.

Chair attachments exist that do exactly what you want. I don't happen to remember the name of the products.

Ahh, okay.. Thanks man lol

Yeah I'm loving the computer so far, really good for everyday use.. Just being nitty in case I'll ever want to try games on it.

But i have a recurring nightmare where i FT the million as chip leader and get a power out

Had it again last night obv!

Re: ***Official Laptop/Monitor/Computer/Grinding Equipment Discussion Thread***

bought one of these for 459 during black friday deals... call them and tell them you want that rate.

seems to be the best bang for the buck; needed it for work.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883229285

I'd use the money saved and buy 2 monitors or an SSD.

As far as the back up power source, go to CostCo or Sams. I believe they have one of those policies that you can return or exchange products within 2 years if it becomes faulty. Sounds great for something like a back up power source.

Large/Multiple Backup power supplies. The $300+ cost will pay for itself no question if you live in an area that is prone to power outages. Make sure your modem/router is on backup power as well and have enough power so that you could play for at least 3 hours if need be. I'm up probably $5k lifetime because of my backup power.

A second computer. This one is only for the ballers. I'm sure all of us have been in the situation at least once - having your main computer die. Depending on the problem, it could be days/weeks until you get it fixed. Just having a cheap backup PC or a combo PC/laptop will make sure you don't need to take an impromptu vacation. +ev for highrollers.
Cheapo $400 laptop should be fine with a monitor if its purely for backup purposes. I see people grind on $400 14 inch 5 year old laptops while multitabling 100r's/$215's and just am amazed at the justification of "its plenty of machine." I mean yea it probably is, but god when that thing lags a bit or something goes wrong its gonna suck.

Yea I realize a mid range computer can do all the things I mentioned, but I see people skimp out on more important things because "lol 8 gigs of ram is plenty!" Just one example, but me personally and i'm sure many other people actually do find 8 gigs of ram to honestly not be enough and that comes in many mid range configs i would guess. Idk I just figure even if someone has a $50 hourly that you would want to save up a bit for a nice machine since a huge portion of your life is gonna be on that machine vs. buying a nice car/watch/etc. I drive a 2003 buick lesabre and it gets me by just fine, but i live on my computer so i'd much rather funnel a little extra into a super nice setup (not like my setup is just absurd i think i spent $2k total starting from scratch no monitors), i realize this is purely personal taste but many people on here are similar to me and i definitely didn't used to think like this till it was pointed out to me a few years ago how stupid it was to have an $70 hourly and 40 table sngs on a $350 acer laptop with no mouse and no backup internet/backup power source.

For a backup power source i used to have both a UPS (uninterruptible power supply, has a battery inside that usually lasts 30-45 minutes or so) and generator but now just have a UPS after relocating. Plan is if power ever goes out is to make it to break with that+laptop and then drive like a maniac to a coffee shop and frantically get set up while looking like an idiot in front of everyone. To the guy asking about it, look here http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=21 i have one of these

The **** are you doing that you're using 8 gigs of RAM? I have 4 in my work computer and I get by. I guarantee I'm doing more on here than you are on your home computer too.

Video editing software uses a bunch, I do this thing called speedrunning where you compete on trying to complete a video game as fast as possible and you have to record yourself/do video compression, that uses most of it if i'm running that software while i'm playing/music/video watching/stream watching/running hem/running tn/running stars. I could get by with 4 gigs for sure but its really convenient to have more and just keep opening up/running tons of programs. Some of my "peaks" in my ram graph go above 8 gigs but most of hte time i'm averaging 5-6 gigs. Sometimes I can really get that **** up there though, its amazing how much ram you can use when you never think of conserving it and never close programs :-)

I'm thinking of hooking up an external monitor to my laptop, its Sony Vaio with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU processor with 4 GB of RAM. I 20 table and run a big HEM database aswell as tableninja and spotify.

Will running a monitor noticeably effect my laptops performance?

Ah I guess I never even considered that you could be doing video editing.

I think I am going to buy this. If you were to upgrade any one or 2 things, which would you upgrade and why?

Also, what is the price going to be if I don't buy this today?

Re: ***Official Laptop/Monitor/Computer/Grinding Equipment Discussion Thread***

I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on building a poker pc pre bf so I did some research, btw Le Gonso is awesome in the cth forum. Just sorta skimming the thread and the talk of skimping on this and that I had some thoughts.

My biggest problem w/my current pc is hem lagged like hell while 12 tabling on 3 sites. I came to the conclusion that the bottleneck is my hdd. If any of you are getting a pc either prebuilt or not get a big enough ssd to put ur os, poker sites, and ur database on. For poker u could get away w/ssd, newer i3 at a minimum I'd prefer an i5 and I think an i7 is overkill for poker. Onboard graphics card are fine unless you need to run dual monitors and/or you want to run your 30" at full resolution. If you need a video card the cheapest video cards will do, but make sure it will do what you want it to do i.e. run as many monitors as you want and get you the resolution you need. 4gb min for ram, I would just go w/8gb since it's such a cheap upgrade. There was some decent ram on sale for 29.99 for 8gb.

Lots of good info here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/48...-here-1091894/

If you're down w/building your own quiet pc here's what I was pretty much going to build:

Upgrade the video card for $50. You could add ram, but you should be able to do that yourself in a few years if need be.

I think if you don't buy this today then the $250 CPU upgrade goes away.

stanski, i have 8gig of ram, but i don't need it. you're one of the 0.5% perhaps who needs more. if you have the $, tho, you should really get a separate machine for video editing.

I just upgraded my laptop to the

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU processor 2.4ghz
8GB Ram (free upgrade-not needed though)
2GB Intel Shared Memory

Im not a balla so i looked for a bargain what would just be enough for me to what i needed it to go, Poker only, while listening to tunes.

I can now 30 table (havnt tried more), with HEM and TN running, while skyping and listenning to tunes, runs like a dream.

Re: ***Official Laptop/Monitor/Computer/Grinding Equipment Discussion Thread***

I need a new laptop, and slickdeals says this laptop is the best midrange one:

tinyurl/77ve9n5

It has an AMD Radeon HD 6620G graphics card. I don't know how to determine if this has duel-link DVI or even whether what video output ports it has. I have a Dell 3008 monitor and would like to get a laptop that I could use it with. Can anyone help me figure it if they are compatible?

bump it to the GT540 if you want to game. It's a pretty big jump in performance.

Well I have been running Skyrim on High with 2560x1600 resolution on my PC and it doesn't even come close to using my 6gb ram.
