looking to spend $1k at max on a new laptop, what are your thoughts on this:
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/c...:#.UNd0zm9T_r4

I understand that SSD would be huge but I'm pretty lost in general about it, not sure where to look.

edit: would like a laptop that I can play 3-4 sites w/ around 15-20 tables and still be able to use skype, chrome, itunes w/out it lagging.

edit: just found this w/ SSD, it will be 599 tomorrow, is this my best option??

Native Screen Resolution 1366 x 768

Only buy if you play with a monitor.

Why exactly is 1366 x 768 vs 1920 x w/e so bad? On the cusp of buying a 1366... laptop so would really appreciate the info being explained to me in as basic a way as possible! Thanks in advance. Any uk laptop recommendations appreciated.

White space is the full screen space of 1366x768. My full screen size is 1080p. I could only fit 4 comfortable tables on x768, but I can fit 9 with minor overlap on my x1080.

Thanks Doggz. If I stack (even if I do tend to have 4 different stacks), is this still a deal-breaker iyo?

How many tables are people playing with laptops? Like 18'' screen, or bigger if they exist.

Anyone got any uk laptop recommendations? Up to 20 tbls, 2/3 sites, hem, table ninja etc and random normal use. Usually stack so full he not a deal-breaker but would be nice. £5-900. Big gap, I know lol.

Yes, the GFX-card in the laptop is capable of the high-res but as usual, the manufacturer of the laptop forgot to include a capable output!
VGA or HDMI just aren't going to cut it.
You'd need either displayport- or dual-link-DVI- output.

Get another laptop with displayport or settle on running a monitor w 1080p or 1200p res thru HDMI.
The dual link idea worked!

I really like the computer now that it's up and running.

Can you recommend for me a good value on a nice set of speakers for my pc?

It's a really nice gaming ASUS laptop but the sound as it is now is very weak.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Could do with some help in purchasing a new computer.

Ive had my Dell Dimension 5000 for a long time now and its time to upgrade

Im looking for a desktop computer to add to my 2 Dell 20" monitors which will be mainly used for poker.

I will be using the usual software ..ie HEM1 for now ( HEM 2 in the near future probably ), Table Ninja and TST with perma scan running continuously.

16+ stacked tables and some music to keep me sane.

Im from the UK and willing to spend upwards to a £1k ( hopefully less ), im willing to buy outright or get the necessary parts and possibly ask someone i know to build it for me which might possibly be cheaper.

Any advice would be appreciated, just looking for something that would last as long as my loyal Dimension 5000 and have enough power to run the above software without any lag at all.

Thanks

I was thinking of selling my current monitor setup (2x 26'' iiyama E2607WS) and buying the well known 20'' - 30'' - 20'' setup from Dell.
The thing is, I've read that the new 30'' (U3011) doesn't have the same design as the older 30'' version, which results in not perfectly fitting with the two 20'' screens.

Do you guys know any other solutions (different brand 30'' that will fit with two Dell 2007FP in portrait mode) or a different kind of 20'' screen that DOES meet the U3011 design.

I hope to read your suggestions.

Thanks!

Where do you buy the stands to have monitors in portrait?

well I don't know specifically which ones would but in product descriptions you can see which go portrait.

You could just go window shop at a big electronic retailer and test for yourself.

Thoughts on this. Want a desktop, but will probably moving about a little bit. Why I've chosen the smaller version. It'll just be for poker, as my laptop is fine for other usage. Just want to be able to hook two monitors up, and don't need huge resolution either because I stack. But I'm pretty clueless, and seems the best I can find.
