One 27" (2650x1600) or two 24" (1920x1080) monitors?
The pixel count is pretty much the same in both setups.
Not sure for which one i should go.

Am using one 24" and one 19" (1440x900) up until now and am used to using two monitors, but maybe going for one bigger screen would be better.

Hello everyone,

From the UK, I'm looking for a mean grind station! I have been told Macs are better than PC's by several people but I'm concerned they are just the 'trend' now.

I want to use it to play poker essentially so I'm guessing a PC is better as the majority of software only runs on the PC. Am I right?

I usually play 16+ tables and have my monitor allready.

I am looking to pay £600-800 for the Desktop PC, and then buy a decent mouse and keyboard.

Any suggestions of where to go for this and what to look out for?

A system that can run Football Manager and potentially Diablo 3 and the new Counter Strike would be a bonus

27" (2650x1600) don't exist AFAIK, e.g Dell U2711 is 2560x1440.

Can ur 19" be rotated in portrait? If it can and if it has close to same pixel-pitch as U2711, those two might make a nice couple.

Like this (30" in landscape and 20" in portrait), but a tad smaller:

if youre using hem/tableninja, you need windows 7. you can put 7 on a mac if you want, but youre probably just better off getting a pc. not really sure about what uk sites are the best for parts, but i can help you in choosing the parts if you need. just shoot me a pm

What's the best thing for wrist RSI?
Will a mousepad with one of them wrist-rests be worth buying?

Old doesn't necessarily equal bad, I use 5 years old 20" Dell as a sidewing to my 30" and it's still going strong.
Never had any 24"s and only like to recommend something if I have experience w it, so don't have any specific model to recommend.

1920x1200

Version 1.4 can do higher but hdmi1.4-outputs and inputs are basically non-existent in computers and monitors AFAIK.

A couple of good options:

Use vertical mouse - more natural wrist position
Learn to use mouse also w ur left hand (assuming ur right-handed)

The one I tried to order from tigerdirect would not take a Canadian credit card, then I got a friend's American card and the site still wouldn't accept it for whatever reason. I was on the phone with them and my bank for hours without ever solving the problem. It's been a pretty big headache. I've finally returned that first pos I bought and I have tried to find something similar to the hp you found for me locally but there is nothing close to the same price. I may just cave and go the simple route with an imac, is it not even close to worth the money?

For what you want to do with the PC it seems like a pretty big waste to go with a mac. Tho it might be worth it if that's all your can find up in the wilderness.

Hey guys,

Looking to buy a decent desktop to grind on. I also want a decent mouse and keyboard and my budget is £1,000.

Is their much difference between having the i3, i5, i7?

I have decided to go for windows as poker software all works on the system.

Being able to play some computer games like Football Manager will be a bonus.

Any suggestions?

i5 is enough. Your budget is way way higher then you need unless you are buying a bunch of monitors to go with your setup.

Looking for a laptop that pretty much just handles TN/HEM/Poker/ITunes, so looking for good processor/RAM/hard drive right? Willing to spend £500, maybe more if its real good.

So far this looks good? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...61479-pdt.html

Thanks for help

ImageShack.us[/IMG]

then I will be able to hook up my dvi cable from it to my 305T samsung monitor?

And once doing that will the monitor run through my laptop? I don't really care if the screens are shared or if the monitors just shows my laptop's screen, I would just need the 305T to have it's max resolution of 2560x1600.

Thanks for your help
I've already tried it with the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter and that doesn't work at all. The monitor just flashes different colors non stop
