My guess is that they dont wanna deal with the swings that can easily reach 50-100k for just online. Im sure it is not a great feeling to go thru that. I am not backed and ive blown up two 30k rolls so far, and it can put you in a ****ty emotional/mental state.

Yes, but it was also your money that you lost to start with. So you are only getting back what you lost. Ex.

You play $10k worth of buy-ins on your own and then hit a 10k score and are now breakeven.

You play $10k worth of buy-ins being backed and then hit a 10k score that all goes to your backer.

Both scenarios you are neither up or down money.

IMO that is just another way of referring to the lack of self esteem that SEABEAST mentioned. If you're rolled and you're confident in your game then you should man up and deal with those swings.
