Odd that this comes up now. I just got off the phone with my father. During the convo the topic switched to poker and how i am now backed. He could not seem to grasp this concept.

Interesting, do you think a lot of people get backed partly to convince their family / loved ones that they're not in danger of losing everything? I personally think people are nuts to get backed and would be better off keeping their online action and selling live action on a per-tournament basis. But I know how hard it can be to convince non-poker players that it's OK to put so much of your own money at risk all the time.

Are you an mtt pro? If you are then what are you living off when you're so deep in make-up?

Do you have your own non-mtt action or something?

This is a general question if anybody else wants to pick it up and run with it.

that is really dependent on each individual deal.

most backers either obviously have no quit while in makeup. I told myself if I get 100-200K of my own $ Ill play on my own because I like to stake micro ppl as well.

Personally this is not an issue. I have always been upfront with my family abt gambling, winning or losing. I have never felt the need to hide anything from them. They are very supportive and im obviously thankful for that. Sometimes i hear stories from my friends who are more sheltered than i was/am and I can easily see how it may influence other ppl tho.

I have also talked to ppl who probably should not be playing the limits they are but the idea of moving down and not being part of the elite is too much to bear.
