Making money by buying shares

Anyone is doing it for more than fun? Im no talking about having your own hores etc. Im talking about buying shares here on 2p2 or other sites

How do you decide to invest or not in particular person?
How do you estimate profitability of investment ? How about sizing of markup?
Do you prefer to buy one piece for 50% or 10 pieces of 5%?
Have you been scammed?

Would like to some responses ; )

Hmm, you seem to be missing a letter there...

Basics say it is better to hedge your investment rather than shove it all onto one person in one tournament.

Anyone asking for a stake should be able to provide you with stats on their performance, but remember past performance does not always indicate future performance.

Yes people have been scammed.

Markup - it is down to what you feel is a fair number.

Re: Making money by buying shares

IMO if their average ROI is bigger than their MU then it should be a good investment unless they made most of their money before poker became difficult. If they are new to the marketplace then they need a much bigger ROI compared to their MU to make up for the chance that they scam you. As for how much % to invest, just use the same BRM as if you were playing the tourneys. i.e. If I buy 10% of someone playing a bunch of $109 tourneys I treat it the same as if I was playing a bunch of $11 tourneys bankroll wise.

If your looking to try it out OP we are running a fantasy draft that you can read about here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/16...012-a-1215717/

Generally you should look at turbo roi, reg speed roi, Average buyin, Turbo/regspeed ratio within the package, and monthly results.

Re: Making money by buying shares

One other thing to consider, particularly with online players...

Don't fall into the trap of players who build packages of "I'm playing all MTTs across these 4 sites at $55 Buyin +"

Mass multi-tabling is not an easy feat and certainly not one that everyone can do effectively. Sure, volume is an important factor in realizing the long-term EV, but not when performance suffers.

Don't be turned off by people who may have smaller MTT schedules. They might be a better investment because you know they are splitting their attention over 8 MTTs instead of 46.

Re: Making money by buying shares

I've been backing successfully for over a year and of the people that sell on the market place asking the MU they do, there are less than a handful of people that I would buy from. And even those people are only slightly +EV after the markup they are asking for imo.

It's really quite absurd because you can't say that the people that are selling are ripping others off or anything because nobody is forcing the investors to invest, The thing is that a random (bad to mediocre) grinder looks around and sees other guys charging 1.2 or 1.3 and figures that "that's the going rate" and charges that themselves when it's completely unjustifiable for them to do so.

People don't do proper research and just buy to have a sweat and that's cool. But they are losing money in the long run without a doubt.
