Re: The long-awaited Spring series schedule...
I'm confused at everybody happy about the big buy-in tournaments. It seems that the "tiered approach" means that people who would normally satellite in now will just try playing one of the smaller tournaments and that the buy-ins will be prohibitively high, leaving only really tough opponents in the 10k and (maybe?) the 2-3ks (not to mention the 25k).
Am I missing something or is this approach bad for people like me, who probably are only going to play 5k and higher buy-in tournaments?

Re: The long-awaited Spring series schedule...
FF,
I think you are right about a lot of that. I just saw the schedule and my first thought was just holy **** that is a lot of money, without really considering the ramifications. I think the higher buyins will get more high stakes fish or live pros to give them a shot, but I have no idea.

Re: The long-awaited Spring series schedule...
well it was sort of a "cant please all the ppl all the time" situation since every other series schedule received complaints from ppl who wanted the buyins raised or lowered. with a tourney available for almost all bankrolls it seems like a great improvement.

fwiw i agree. in the thread where we talked about this series, people were asking to run a mini-scoop at the same time (same thing with lower buyins), and i said that would be a bad idea because the players playing the mini-scoop would often overlap with the players that would try to satellite into the bigger events. in my opinion, this schedule will have the same effect, and i'm not really all that excited about it. i'm not even planning to play the biggest buyin stuff because i don't want to gamble for huge buyins where i'm basically crossing my fingers that i have a marginally positive expectation.

Re: The long-awaited Spring series schedule...
See I think the guarantees are going to really help the higher stakes tournaments, and they won't be as bad as you guys think...

Exactly. You're looking at 500 runners guaranteed in the 10k and a $1m guarantee for the 5k PLO. I mean the high buyins arent made for everyone so people saying that they can't play them is fine, they are meant to be just that, the highest stakes online. But as JP pointed out, the guarantees will soften things significantly.

I think I agree with most of this.
When I thought of a mini SCOOP, I always pictured a 300+1+1 ME, and like a ...10+1+1 mini SCOOP or something similar. I never even thought that they might run super high buyin events everyday.
More than anything, I'm just going to have to swallow my pride, and admit that I'm not playing most of the "high stakes" tournaments in this series. Which is just strange for me, and other people in my situation(alot of people in this forum I'd think).

Ehhhh. There's such a huge difference between what guarentees help.
10K is alot of f'ing money to basically everyone, and I just don't think many people are going to be effected by something like a guarentee, unless we are going to see a huge overlay.

Re: The long-awaited Spring series schedule...
Great work taking most of feedback into account, well done!
Just to clarify - can we play different tiers at the same time?
And just some other thoughts:
1. I hope that there are Steps for these
2. It would be great to see a H / M / L leadboard incentive
Also, will W$ count, or only T$?
