after going out there for a few years the most important advice is to bring buy ins to register for your next event when you are in a day 2, or the night before etc. to register. the lines get really bad the day of.

register for the main event a couple weeks ahead of time and pick your day without worrying about it selling out.

rent a car

bring a backpack with healthy snacks to tournies.

bring a sweatshirt the temp varies inside

take a day off once in a while and have some fun out there and recharge the batteries.

what are the risks of bringing your own bananas? can you get bananas in vegas? what about the laws?

I did the walk from Caesars over the bridge last year mid afternoon, thinking it would be a good chance for some exercise. It wasn't sketchy, didn't feel like I'd get run over but it was about 25 minutes and I wouldn't do it again. It isn't terrible but its not a pleasant stroll, I'd much rather walk down the Strip. If you don't want to cab it, the Harrah's to Rio (also Ballys/Paris to Rio) shuttle makes way more sense than walking, but I think it only runs til 1am.

fwiw, I mostly don't like that bridge due to bad drivers/cab drivers not giving a chit if they hit me. Never have I felt in danger of being robbed in Vegas. But still, don't be stupid.

If your worried about the tips in addition to what is taken out of the prizepool already---it most likely stems from you wanting to take care of a couple dealers that you liked over the course of the few days....

what i've done in these situations is just find the dealers you were looking to hook up when they are dealing cash, pull up a seat and hit them with it directly...this could be anywhere from $25-500. And they don't have to split it with hundreds of other dealers.

I dont think so, there are so many people walking around all the time so you'd have to bike on the road and I don't think you want to. Also, leaving your bike outside the casino or whatever would be an issue...

Biking around would be perfect but, from my limited experience there, I don't think Vegas is built for it.

Last year I ate at the poker kitchen and managed to avoid food poisoning, mostly because I was too lazy to walk back to the rest of the Rio. Does anyone have anything good to say about any restaurants at Rio. Specifically,
1)you can get there, eat, get back in time during a break
2)particular dish you recommend, even if its something as simple as a burger/fries. What about that pub way-the-eff over in masquerade village?
3)its a place you'd eat at again, on purpose, during non-wsop times, not just because its the only thing in walking distance from the amazon room
4)is there a single place to eat inside the Rio that is gobbo-approved?

I actually don't think the Poker Kitchen is THAT bad as long as you are getting food as it is being cooked and not that has been sitting around for a while.

Obviously it's not something to eat everyday. But if you're in the middle of a session and go grab a burger and waffle fries, I've had far worse meals for 12 bucks including a drink.
