The Dolt behind killing 180's - B4L Well
So now that I (bogan of #teamboganonline) have taken a step back from staking and having to make the choice between staying in the game or saving my relationship with my family and friends I thought that a Well was in order.
So i guess it all started with me "quitting 2p2" and really taking a focus on poker and staking. Ive never been a good poker player as im sure most of you would know and know little more than the maths of the game and how to work out a turbo shove range. When i started with Gavin555 and Chavarov I was one of the horses and noticed how often they seemed to get rolled so offered to take on a stable manger roll. We didn't know that much about staking but we had that want to work and did all we could to improve our players. We decided that we would teach the hell out of 180s regs and make what was seemed easy money. Hell if 1 person can use 180s to build a roll why couldnt a stable use 40 people to build a roll? As we started getting into the 180s we noticed the games getting more and more reggie with it getting to the point where we had a final 6 full of only our players. Since then there was the move into mtt's and the building of a staking empire that ended when I decided to leave my investors Jackziyang and Spathic, Most wells tend to have a huge open post but hell we get to bored to read all those words so im going to do it more in the way of answering questions that get asked. Footnotes of my time in staking - Building from 2/180s to staking the likes of Jcamby - Having at the peak over 60 horses playing up to HSMTT's - Traveling Euro and Mexico meeting horses and poker friends that started with yelling teamboganonline follow me on twitter and ended in being drugged by a female - Working 20 hours a day for a year to the point of burn out and causing trouble in my relationships - Drinking 30 beers in 24 hours for charity. Ill try to answer as many questions as I can but im sure there will be some questions I cant answer. |

Why the gimmick? Since the forum went tits up I havn't got any of my old accounts back up. And m1ghty we both know that 180s are not "dead" if anything there a lot softer due to a lot of bad stables putting a lot of bad horses into 180s using a lot of bad push/fold charts |

Re: The Dolt behind killing 180's - B4L Well
what do you recon are the best ways of getting into the 180's nowadays ? The same old SNGwiz/pokerstove combo should do or .. ?
|
Re: The Dolt behind killing 180's - B4L Well
I mean stove and SNGwiz are a great start and are more then enough beat 2s but these programs don't teach you how to adapt to different regs, what stats need to be taken into account vs them and things like adding in a raise/fold game, inducing etc etc. The game has gone beyond just knowing how to go all in you now almost have to know how to think to beat 180s and anyone that knows how to think in poker should not be playing 180s.
Personally I think getting involved in study groups and looking over your hand historys a lot is the key to improving in the game. The more you work on your game be it by getting coaching or just spending a lot of time reviewing your own game can only help. Just be carefully with who you get to coach you and ask for references before buying any hours (and check those references) |

2) Yes and it wasn't a easy call seeing as the make up was over 10k and I knew he could be profitable again but there were issues outside the game that made it -ev 3) Im sure everyone knows the hots/bigs but outside that Late night 109 turbo 12k Late night 77 6 max Early 33t 6 max Early 11r 18k? 27ko t 20k? Not sure about the gauntness on those tournys atm but you will find that with stars all the value outside the bigs are in the rebuys or turbos. 4) Hard working, always open to talk to there horses, offers coaching and most of all a good rep as a backer to improve your game and give you the support needed to play the best you can at the level that will make you the most so the backer having a understanding of game selection is key. 5) Willing to learn, willing to listen and not be typical pig headed im the greatest type player. The players I had the best success with are the types that put there head down, grind, study and above all dont let the swings get to them. |
Re: The Dolt behind killing 180's - B4L Well
would you say your killing of the 180s is comparable to how video killed the radio star?
