Underage gambling is very bad as a whole and think the laws should stay the same as they are today. I'm not sure if I'd go back and change much about my past if I could, though. I wasn't mature enough when I first started, but poker and the swings have matured me more than most other things. I also used poker as sort of a crutch to get through a lot of rough times in my life. It took my mind off of everything and let me expand my brain.
I think I was pretty mature for my age when I first started playing HSMTTs, but not close to mature enough to know what I was getting myself in to. I wasn't mentally prepared for the swings or realized how big they could be.
I believe maturing and realizing how big the swings can be in poker both financially and mentally have been the biggest factor in me turning in to a winning player. I haven't gotten angry over a bad beat, or a bad run in a very long time. It's also carried over to real life. I never sweat the little things and have learned to just brush things off. I see people getting upset over very trivial things that I would never care about if they happened to me.
I believe I ran pretty damn far below expectation at MTTs in my life, but don't think I was as good as I thought I was. I certainly over estimated my edge in everything and didn't play enough soft tournaments. I have to thank people like you and Ricky for showing me how to manage my MTT schedule and get the maximum value out of it. Many (mostly backed) HSMTT players make a huge mistake when it comes to actually knowing what to play. They will just load up all of the biggest **** and play a session.
No real travel plans set in stone yet. I'll think about possibly going to Peru with Marty, as I really want to start travelling overseas ASAP.
