People named Carter seem to be generally awful human beings (small sample...butnahhhhh).

GL trying to get a fraction of what he *should* owe you back. Just awful.

Sorry to hear about this Tom, while me and Carter had our differences and arguments I always respected him and thought of him as a very trustworthy person, pretty shocked to hear about this. Hope it works out for everyone involved.

Re: Carter "bdybldngpkr" Phillips Walks out on stake, agrees to buyout and doesnt pay

I just remembered the story from Dip when he used to back this guy. Apparently after he won the EPT he wanted to keep extra money because he "won dip so much" so really this shouldn't surprise anyone. Maybe one of them can confirm that story because I only remember it secondhand.

can 99% confirm this (my memory is hazy obv). pretty sure mark snap dropped him after the EPT win so maybe thats why he tried to get more (lol logic).

There were other ways this could have been handled but he chose to out Carter on 2+2 after many attempts and BS responses by Carter to collect...so this is basically a warning by Tom to the forum beware of doing biz with a deadbeat kinda of the same analogy posters have gone to with Chino and others .
Tom handled it like a total gentlemen. Many of us would not be this kind by now.
[ ]Partying in Vegas = 80K
[ ]If you are in make up and broke you should sulk in a cold dark lonely corner
[ ]He has a low variance method of making the owed manies with online MTT's
[x]He should pay the 25K
[x]He has paid 8%
[ ]He has the money to pay
[ ]After BF OP should own all stakee's live action
[x]If he paid 100% after his mini score he would have nothing left
[x]There should have been a contract explicating the staking agreement
[x]Warning people on a public forum is acceptable
[x]Shaming people and talking about their "fragile emotional state" is a pretty pathetic needle
[ ]The following is a good business practice: "We never had a set deal or guarantee for either are playing at the current time."
[ ]OP's side and interpretation of events is 100% accurate
[ ]Stakee's side and interpretation of events is 100% accurate
[ ]The following is a good business practice: "While at the time I was against this decision I still bought him into EPT San Remo, EPT Madrid and a handful of side events between the two stops."
[x]The line of friendship and business relationship was blurred as it is in most online staking arrangements with friends.
[x]Staking arangements without written terms and conditions is the actual definition of insanity.
[ ]Two plus two can make him pay
[x]This thread puts egg on both your faces
[ ]There are hundreds of these situations post BF and each should have their own thread
[x]OP and Stakee should figure this zhit out on their own since they were the only ones in the situation and therefore know all the intricacies of the arrangement etc. and if they can't figure it out and/or stakee can't pay then OP should sue in civil court or if stakee feels wrong he should sue OP for defamation of character and then both can cross each other off their respective Christmas lists.

Look, all I'm saying is that these situations are reminiscent of a married couple getting divorced; the ensuing "he said she said" is both counterproductive as well as awkward for mutual friends and colleagues who are forced to take sides etc. The objective truth is never fully known and parties, devoid of other options, resort to petty tactics to achieve a desired effect. Everybody gets it, it didn't work out so go get a legal divorce and quit trying these things in the public forum. Obv you should have had a prenup, you didn't and now your asking the public forum to determine who gets the kids, house, dogs and Honda Civic... I mean really, figure it out on your own or take him to court to get your satisfaction, seriously. Once he gets a summons he might all of a sudden come up with some manies, your basically be calling his "broke" bluff; if not get a "pay that mian is manies" judgement and an attachment to any future wages. Then its done.

****ty spot, id assume he isnt busto but 25k would be a substantial hit to his networth atm, and is probably waiting for a better spot to pay you back
