Can we talk about the Pokerstars roll forward? Can we talk about the Pokerstars roll forward?

I'm not too interested in discussing the quality of Pokerstars servers etc, I would assume(and hope) Pokerstars realizes these sort of situations can't go on much longer.

Seeing this seems to be a recurring thing recently I think its extremely important Pokerstars gets the refunds right when a tournament gets cancelled.

Currently:

Tournament #****** has been cancelled due to technical reasons.

When a tournament is cancelled before players are in the money, we refund each player their tournament fee, and then divide up the prize pool based on the following formula:

- 50% of the award pool distributed evenly between remaining players
- 50% of the award pool distributed proportionally according to the chip count

I firmly believe this is not an actual representation of the value of a chip stack.

To use an extreme example, we're playing a tournament with a buy-in of a $100(lets make it a 10k GTD and there are 100 players) and a starting stack of 10,000 chips. We lose a big hand right before the servers crash and are left with 1 chip. Using the stars formula we're receiving 50$ and some amount for the single chip.

Surely a 1 chip stack is not worth ~$50, this 50$ is not a compensation the player receives from stars but receives at the expense of the other players.

Furthermore a few things need to be addressed:

- Making sure the refunds calculations are made with how the stacks were at the point of the server crash and not later when some play has commenced but not everybody was able to.
- At final tables we need an automatic ICM chop, there's a bunch of cases from tournaments where the chipleader gets more than first. This is obviously at expense of the other players and should clearly not be possible.

All true but I don't thin Amaya cares, sadly.

If you want real change, give other sites your action.

actually this rolls are very good for PokerStars/Amaya

when a player big hits a huge amount like 50k, 80k, 100+k, he always cashs out

when lots of players wins 5k-8k they tend to not cash out and use this money to play on site

They reimburse entry fees and the rake so its not so good for the business and also is not good for their image to have freezeouts every 2 weeks.
They have to rework the formula or algorithm somehow because I saw a pattern, observing ~20 tourneys where if play has begun-they return entry fee without chopping the guarantee if its not met.
But if the game has not begun-they chop the GTD fund among players (there was a 16.50 hyper where game has not begun and everyone received 52 and others where 1-2 players busted-everyone received only original entry fee)
Also the resuming of some tourneys was sick.
I don't think any of this is good for their business and image as the top poker room.

Yeah it would also stop all the mofos stealing equity by regging all when the disconnects happen. It shouldnt be too troublesome if it didnt happen twice a week.
