I am sure this is not the first (I read some past threads on this matter) but as I am now seriously testing the waters, I must resume this question and get an in depth answer: is it possible to make a living (not hit the jackpot) from internet poker and SNG's and MTTs at that? Atm, playing around 400 games monthly (weekends and evening here and there), struggling enormously with the variance (still seen only by human eyes, playing 12 games concurrently, no tools atm).
I am not a dummy to yell rigged rigged (although it's hard to shake the sense of more frequently than should be thoughts), but asking real questiona as to how many games (if at all possible) does this level out. Playing sng's and mtt's, maintaining 100 buy ins which seems to be on the limit of brm (as easily 50 games are not cashing).
It feels no matter how good I play (making correct choices) I am barely breaking even.
Real experience thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.
Slightly shorter answer: if you're not sure if you can, then no.
Question you should ask yourself: what (real, concrete, serious) evidence do you have that your long-term expectations should be higher than your recent past?
400 games in a month is on the low side to combat variance. Even if you play a crapload, by the time you have a reasonable samplesize game conditions will have changed so much that the first half of your sample isn't valid anymore.
If you have a really healthy ROI you have like a 95% chance of profiting over 10000 games though.
@madcatz those are the questions I am asking myself. I am wondering how to answer them properly and truthfully. Do I need more time? Will data resolve my questions? Etc..
Thanks. How do I locate such people? I noticed my thread has been moved, so I got a lot to catch up on:-)
Anyways, I don't meant to do the "this sht is rigged" attitude, as it's not progressing me in anyway, was just mentioning that tingling feeling of I've seen this too many times in x hours, but I guess that's the real life.
My purpose in this thread and raising of the questions is to:
1. Ask the right questions? i.e. what Madcattz1999 offered as a starter.
2. Find the tools to answer such questions properly
3. To define properly : I've only been playing around (literally) with poker as a past time experience, but as I am a smart and successful person in general, I expect (perhaps incorrectly) to gain enough traction and success in this form of game (which to some extent I have experienced, but very very small).
So, I hear your guys feedback and suggestions, it is appreciated.
